This a photo of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in Newyork City. I took this shot ten minutes after the rain had ended after midnight and there was a thick mist. A tripod was used, and didnt really do much post processing and editing. I only Cropped it, and increased saturation a tiny bit. I added a USM, and filtered it on Neat Image.

Nice image of a bridge that is not photographed nearly as often as the Brooklyn Bridge yet is an outstanding piece of engineering.

This is perfect timing for this shot. The atmospheric conditions and the lighting work perfectly together and your composition is also very nice. I know it's probably naturally that way, but I might be tempted to rotate just a bit counter clockwise to even up that shoreline/horizon area - but that's nitpicking.

on ur beautiful shot, u posted another picture wich probable revealed a bit emphatic what image u sent in for this challenge
so i think the 1-voters did this because they found this move very undone
this is the only reason i can think of regarding the one-voters
pathetic but true
soo maybe for the next time this consideration might be helpfull to u

10 ones is indeed bizarre - this is a fantastic shot...I wonder whether some of the trolls got through the cracks. I'm curious though -must have been a bright night to get a shot this light out of an eight second exposure at midnight ? And I can't figure out what that golden area is to one side of the bridge - I know it's not the sunbecause a) the shot was taken at midnight and b) there are lights on the bridge?! Edit - I also know becaue I read one of your comments down below :). Whatever it is, it's gorgeous and really adds to this shot.

Congrats!

that is very considerate of you insteps. I don't care about all of those 1's. I guess it is people who really like the photo that vote low purposely solely to boost the chances of their submission to win.
02/23/2005 12:54:58 AM
Great shot! Could have easily taken the blue. I don't understand why you received so many votes of 1. There are usually a few but you were robbed. Congratulations on your red ribbon.

Lots of commenters wanted to know If this was a sunset or a sunrise. I named the photo specifically for people who wanted to have an idea what time it was when I took this. The orange glow was definatly from the toll area on the horizon.

returning for comment: the beautiful green and complimentary orange sky give this image the feel of perfection. the vanishing point adds to this image also. the only thing that could have been done would be this thing on the bottom right to be cloned out, but thats not allowed, so its about as close to perfect as can be.. 9

In many ways this is fabulous, but the distortion of the shape on the right bothers me. I'd like to see this cropped so there's much less on the right and much more on the left, I think this owuld be stronger and more directional.
