It was another wonderful year of images on DPC. Congratulations to the Top 10 winners in the 2007 Ribbon Chase. Like last year, I thought I̢۪d post the thumbs of the Top 5 winners for another look. Pretty amazing when you see them all together on one screen.
I will make a special mention of both Scalvert and De Sousa. Shannon had 11 entries in the second half of the year and thus won in almost half the time the rest had to enter. Jorge, on the other hand, scored a ribbon almost 50% of the time he entered in 2007. That has got to be up there in the pantheon of DPC achievements.
Ribbon Chase 2007 results:
1. Scalvert 13 ribbons (5 Blue, 3 Red, 5 Yellow)
2. Alexsaberi 11 ribbons (5 Blue, 5 Red, 1 Yellow)
3. DrAchoo 10 ribbons (2 Blue, 5 Red, 3 Yellow)
4. IreneM 9 ribbons (2 Blue, 5 Red, 2 Yellow)
5. hotpasta 9 ribbons (2 Blue, 3 Red, 4 Yellow)
6. De Sousa 8 ribbons (6 Blue, 0 Red, 2 Yellow)
7. eyewave 8 ribbons (3 Blue, 4 Red, 1 Yellow)
8. william88 6 ribbons (3 Blue, 2 Red, 1 Yellow)
9. Larus 6 ribbons (3 Blue, 1 Red, 2 Yellow)
10. jasonlprice 6 ribbons (2 Blue, 3 Red, 1 Yellow)
Ribbon Chase 2007 Points leaders: (5 for blue, 4 for redâ€Â¦2 for 4th, 1 for 5th)
1. Scalvert 56 points
2. Alexsaberi 55 points
3. DrAchoo 52 points
4. eyewave 46 points
5. IreneM 45 points
6. hotpasta 42 points
7. De Sousa 38 points
8. timfythetoo 36 points
9. jasonlprice 32 points
10. judi 30 points

Thanks for the review. It's nice to see all the photos in one place. |

What is sorta amazing to me is that we have the perception that landscapes dominate DPC. However, with at least the Top 5 ribbon winners, landscapes only represented eight of the 52 ribbons. People shots were far higher as well as studio stock photography.

That's quite something to look at. Makes want to see the thumbnails of all the top 10! |

Congrats to all the top ten in both ribbon count and points chase. All well deserved winners.
If this doesn't inspire everyone to chase harder then nothing will. Watch your backs guys, we are going to be all over you in 2008 ;-) |

Congrats to you top 10-15 photogs. You deserved every ribbon you received (and more). Now for the year '08 you can just sit on the sideline and coach us beginners! LOL, just kidding; it gives me good inspiration to know that I'm entering challenges with/against you guys. Keep up the great photos. BB
Just outta curiosity did you keep track of mpeters? I thought he was in the running at about 9th or 10th unless he got bumped by jasonlprice & judi.
ETA: the following
How about librodo? He had 28 challenge entries last year with 13 of those being in the top ten AND 6 of THOSE were ribbons. This probably doesn't really matter to me but I'm a numbers type of guy.

Mpeters came in 11th with 6 ribbons but losing on the tiebreaker. Actually there were a number of 6 ribbon winners that didn't make Top 10: mpeters, falc, librodo, judi, MAK, and roba.
I was planning on posting thumbs for all Top 10, but my eyes were seriously buggy after only 5 trying to get all the thumb #s right. I may update the list later on.

I'm shocked that I made the top 10...just goes to show that if you submit to enough challenges you are bound to get lucky on a few! Congrats to all the top 10s and especially the top 3 Scalvert, Alexsaberi, and you DrAchoo! So do we get some kind of ribbon to display or something :)

Congrats to the top 10! What a great bunch of photos.
I tried to hold onto my 10th spot but I feel like I am in good company down in the 11-15 range. Watch out in 08! |

Thanks for going to the trouble of getting all these statistics together, Jason. It certainly makes interesting reading and viewing. |

It's so awesome to be in the top 5. I am in such honourable company and feel a million dollars! I am flying the flag for Australians at dpc! Looking forward to a great 2008. Thanks everyone for all the votes and comments. |

Awesome job jeger. I really appreciate it.
I love staring at the pictures to see styles emerge. For example, Enzo has the most muted color palette of all the Top 10 winners. William88 and IreneM are clearly masters of what they do. |

Nice work all around. But I do have a request - for those of you in the top ten, which of your shots, either ribbon winners or not, are your personal favorites for the year? (Not including anything you might enter for Best of, should that appear.) |

Not that you asked me but these are my top 4 favorites:
Would love to see this with different background (i.e. with detail) though.
Perfect.
The tones and texture are as good as it gets.
I like gore although sneezy tried to make it as pretty as possible with the colors. Loses some points there. Also he really deserves 4th place. :P

Not mine (and only picking from above):
One of the best pictures I've seen on DPC. I absolutely love Jorge's work and enjoyed working with him every minute on the hogs.
My own:
I only get good portraits with luck. I LOVE this picture of my kids. The creamy lighting. The yellow palette of leaves and the way Laine has her head slightly tucked into Caden's.
I loved this one because of the anticipation of seeing the shot form. I just watched the sunbreak crawl down the hill and form the voluminous light. Being at the right place at the right time is magical.
A few others:

I guess I can't hang with the cool kids.
I only had 5 ribbons

plus 3 4th's

and 1 5th'
for 27 points. Not to mention a bunch of top tens.

But who's counting:)
Sometimes you need to toot your own horn.
