They are both nice photos, very nice actually. But I just feel like you didn't really work hard enough for both of them. Like you did for one but not the other.
But in the end you have 2 beautiful photos of a beautiful place that thousands will view within days being on the front page of dpc.
Congrats! |

Thank you very much for the warm messages. Kini62's comment did make me sleepless, but I feel better now. Thanks a lot to all. |

Gene, when you go to a beautiful place. Do you release shutter only once? If not, do you release twice "purposely"?
I am sorry but I am different from you. I don't have time to consider how many shots do I need to take.
My camera was on the tripod and I took 5 shots, all of them have the same composition but different clouds because they moved fast.
BTW, which rule said this is not allowed? Please read the rules carefully yourself. |
It would be based on this one: "use the same original image in more than one challenge."
While I agree that when you are in a situation like you were that taking many photos is the thing to do, I don't agree with using what is essentially the same photo in more than one contest.
As I said you are technically correct in using this second image, I just don't agree with it. Again JMO.

Both images are stunning Gene! They may be the same subject matter...(which I have found subject matter to be repeated in many different challenges...by the same and/or different photographers)...but they are different captures of the same subject. Fortunately for William...he was in the right place at the right time and was able to capture some exceptional images.
As photographers...both professionals and amateurs are bound to happen upon the same or similar scenes frequently. IMHO...I think both of his ribbons were well deserved.
I can only dream of someday having the equipment, the skills and the timing to capture something this beautiful. |

I don't have that plugin. I use the build in dust & scratch filter of PS7. |

OPEN YOUR EYES, they are from two different original images. Why don't you put them side by side and compare?
