THE PICTURE: I found this amazing backdrop and photographed people as they passed by.

EDIT: Grayscale, Duotone, Smart Sharpen, Noise Ninja, some adjustments with levels, a little burning, resize, border etc...

PREDICTION: I have had such a bad run in the last 5 challenges, after a couple of months of ribbons that this could go either way. Not holding much hope...5.9XXX

POST: Well what can I say? Total surprise to me. After doing poorly, hotpasta springs back! Thanks everyone...I never expected this!

Wow, not a lot I can say to improve on this one, so I guess I'll just say what I think went "right."

Compositionally, it is very well balanced. The large face of the women dominates the shot, but does not overwhelm the subject which contrasts in so many ways -- size, confidence, shape, sex, etc.

Technically, it is very well focused (which always helps) and the exposure is very good too. The bw works very well here and you have a good range in tones, as well.

Emotionally, I think it connected with a lot of the viewers simply because we can relate with the dejectedness that the guy shows (at some point in our lives).

Excellent shot and congrats on the ribbon.

this shot is cool.
although i like "Whatever you do, look away Jack" more. may be because it has the complete face of the model and eye-contact with other subjects too.

Congratulations on your ribbon. This was my "best in show." I'm pleased to learn you photographed people as they walked by, I suspected it was a true candid but also realized it could have been staged.
