Hope Saberi is back from Vietnam before voting starts, be a pity if he missed out on this one.

I don't know why I'm having such trouble with this, but do the challenge instructions mean the shot HAS to be in the archives and cannot be something taken between now and the deadline, or that it CAN be from the archives?
Seriously, I'm usually not this dense... |

As long as its taken before the submission deadline, you're good. It WILL be in your archives after you shoot it and before you submit it. :)
I keep thinking "how does one choose their BEST photograph ever?" Seriously, I love so many of my images, but I'm not sure any is the best ever and if it is, how would I know... :)

Thank you idnic!!! And I know what you mean. I always try to submit my "best" for each challenge and my track record is rather dismal... |

I don't worry about 'best'. I pick the one that speaks to me the most at any given time. Which is how I ended up with a cell phone shot in "Best of 2008" |

I dreamed that I entered this challenge and got 42 comments in the first 10 or so minutes. |

I was thinking that I probably wont see the first vote for 2 days and the score thread would be about 67 pages long. hahah.

Quick question: Perhaps this has been touched upon, but I couldn't find it when I was scanning the thread: Can we submit something that is in our DPC portfolio, as long as it hasn't been submitted to a challenge? Or are all pics on the DPC site off limits? My fav is in there, but I've moved it to Workshop in preparation for submitting it to this (I think that hides it from everybody?). |

Yes, you can submit something that's in your portfolio. A lot of us probably will do just that, and either moving it to your workshop or using the option to "hide" it would be a good idea!

The image I've entered is from 2004. That's a bit upsetting to me, since I've certainly progressed in skills, equipment and technique during the interim. However, there is an image of something which does not exist in the same condition today. And, it was a magic moment back then with my first DSLR... I'll never forget. Furthermore, it was a delight to reach back to find the original RAW file and process it with today's more powerful software and faster computer. I like the results and will try to process some other "lucky" archived captures in the same way. I did have to search for an hour through hundreds of archival CDs to find the one I wanted. Overall, the experience gave me perspective about the progress we've seen in photography in a few short years. |

Hrm. Do I even have a 'best' shot?
Might have to go with one that has already been up in my profile for a while. Sure hope that doesn't break any rules. No idea whatsoever if I still have the original file. I'm going to enter it anyhow.
I guess what that means is that no matter what it places, if it gets disqualified for no original, it won't happen until after the challenge. I could live with that. It's not top 10, top 100 or maybe even top 1000 material anyhow...
Hrm. Why do I get the feeling that the 'not even top 1000 material' is somewhat prophetic... We'll have to make big brown ribbons for *everyone* below 1000th. heheh. |

I would suggest you use the "contact us" menu and send it to them for an opinion....ooops. I guess you cannot do that with no menu system!

Hi.
It seems that I cant upload my image. Always get An error occurred: The file you uploaded was empty.
Anyone? |

The site is sort of broken at the moment - I'm guessing that's the problem. Though the error message is indeed humorous! |
