Right, I've finally decided what to enter (I think), but I no longer have that lens...will I have to add it to my profile again to be able to submit?? I can't be the only one with this problem...

Aaaargh. I can't even SEE my photo anymore. Submitted as is. I hope I don't look at it tomorrow and think "What was I thinking?"

why can't you see it anymore? just click on the challenge descript and it should be there.

No, I meant I'm going cross-eyed from looking at it so much, and now I can't see it objectively. But thanks for the help! :-)

That what I did a couple days ago, looked at it again last night, and decided to re-edit. I must avoid the temptation to look at it again tonight.

Same sentiments here. I started photography in 2004 but only caught the 'vibe' when I stumbled across DPC. As I toured my back-up drive to look for something worthy of the 5.5+ I hope to get, I realized again and again how much I have gained from this site and its members.

And before I now get all sentimental and sniffy... maybe I should just say thanks to Langdon and all of you....and go to sleep.

You, me and 792 others...

The call to re-edit is starting to rival the power of The One Ring for me.

I hear it calling to me now. If only my image actually were precious.....

must... resist... re-editing...... must not clone out every single speck of naturalness just because of the few who might nit-pick.... AUGHHHH...

ditto from me & no doubt many of us feeling the same.
Many of my friends ask me there is no prize then why you take so much interest & efforts for submitting in challenge. It's difficult to justify them what I got from DPC. I am looking forward to see amazing shots in this contest. Probably this is the first time I am eager to see other entries than my score :)

In addition to seeing amazing shots, I'm looking forward to seeing loved shots, and shots that represent a time or memory or person. I'm looking forward to a very wide variety of photograph to enjoy!

Yes! I've been reading this thread & agree with the feeling that this is more than a contest challenge. Like everyone, I looked thru my old shots, remembering this & that. I entered my favorite, re-processed. I'm looking forward to seeing, voting, & commenting on as many of the entries as I can. I feel proud to be part of this group.

Hehe. The thing is, I have created several different versions of my entry and I could create several more, and they would all probably end up with about the same score.

Funny one!

Well at least you entered and I know you entered something great (whatever score it winds up with!!) I entered, but I'm still not sure (story of my life).

I've read through most of this thread, but I still need to ask for an opinion on "hidden gem". Could this simply mean that it's your favorite that never made it to a challenge or should it be something that hasn't received much exposure. My favorites usually make it to my portfolio even if they don't fit a challenge.

Thanks, Dave

I think it should be whatever picture you'd most like people to see now, which has never been entered in an official challenge.

There is sure to be some small degree of lost anonymity as many people will submit something previously-posted, but I also think voting will be all over the place, and that it won't make much difference.

Personally, I opted to go with my "most meaningful" over "technically best" photo -- I'll probably just post the latter in the Outtakes thread next week ...

It doesn't matter if it's in your portfolio, you can still enter it. I would hide it in your portfolio, though, that's what I did.

I agree I have decided to go with a picture that was an achievement as far as I was concerned. I fully expect it to be panned but it doesn't matter.

This challenge will be all over the place with voting - even more so than usual:)

Edited for fat fingers!

I'm in. My goal is a new personal best. I love the image and I'll never be able to duplicate it in my lifetime. It was one of those photo shoots where I thought I had wasted my time bringing my camera. Then, within 5 minutes the lighting changed to something wonderful and I was observant enough to realize it. Good luck to everyone and this will be fun to voting on, that is for sure.
