Scab... I love your photos... the one on the right really grabbed my attention when I first saw it. Stunning.

I'll take a stab - texture, structure - the compositional elements other than colour, that tend to get drowned out or masked by vibrant colours or ruined by drab browns and greens.
B&W makes you focus on the patterns and texture in the image, the lines and light that makes up the scene.
