I have struggled so much with B&W... I really like B&W work, but I can't seem to take a decent B&W pic. It's very frustrating! So my best B&W will have to be a duotone.

This is one of my favorites. I learned how to make a low key shot with a lot of light. Black on Black was a great learning challenge for me.

I am a rank beginner at B&W, since I have not done many until I joined this group. Here are several of mine. Yours are all very nice and I have learned alot about this type of photography from you all.

I really like B & W so I have quite a few. There are a few more in my portfolio, but I have far too many to post. I really like seeing all these beautiful images here. Nice...really nice!
Hmmmm I wonder why mine aren't showing up????

These are mine
My little sister, the model, hates this one. I, however, like it.
This is one of my favorite ones of my little boy.

Here are a couple non-challenge Black and Whites, none of these were taken in black and white, I like to shoot in color (most of the time) and have the option of converting it.

In addition to Gordon's comments, it's all about a good tonal range. Something which looks good in color won't necessarily work in B&W and vice versa - due to tonal range. A lot of the masters regularly used filters to enhance the tonal range (you know, red/green/yellow filters) and emphasise certain parts of the shot.
Apparently you can get a wratten filter which allows you to 'pre-visualise' a shot in B&W by filtering out all color. The filter kinds of adds a brown cast when viewing.
