Since I haven't messed with creating too many black and white's, choosing wasn't too hard. Don't know that these stack up against some of the great work showed off here, but any feedback would be appreciated - especially on the rock with the hole, since I took that shot today and was just now messing around with it. I thought it might work as a black and white shot, but I'm not sure about the results.

One more of mine:

It seems that people are more keen to 'show off' and receive comments than give them though! : )

Without comments this just becomes another gallery - and it's easier to browse the galleries. I think there should be more reciprocal commenting on this site (if you get one - give one back).

Ronners: love those shots - like GG Bridge and the mountain scene - very dramatic clouds
Mbardeen: stunning Lapland shot

Have left comments on others - too numerous to mention.

Its the current fad forum thread and the titles encourage the 'look at me' approach rather than thoughtful comments. There will be a new fad along any day now...

Nothing wrong with watching this great selection of photos, make me feel that I'm out in the Art Gallery! And if people think these are their best photos, comments might be unnecessary...

Well, the name of the thread is "Show your best B/W photos". :) Seems to me, there's a time to critique and comment, and there's a time to sit back and appreciate and observe. This seemed like the latter to me.

...still waiting for your critiques on mine... ;)

Don't get me wrong - I'm not whining, but in the spirit of this site I think it's good to see criticism or praise for work in these threads. I'm sure the title has encouraged people to post here in the hope that someone may feedback about their shots.

As eye candy it's all good stuff, but is it too much effort to make the odd comment along the way?

I was mostly just pulling your leg a bit. (Hey, that would have been a good literalism shot!)

was kinda bored last night, so grabbed me little ls443 and went for a 5 minuit walk (well, didn;t walk too far, mainly sat down on the road and shot ants walking on the bitumen)
I got some good ant ones, but I likes this one due to simplicity, colour looked wrong, so desaturated it, and there ya go.

And thank you indeed for your comment Jon. I quite like this little fad - makes a change from the 'comments please' threads; and I'm busy enough commenting on challenge shots right now - pleasant just to look for a while. Mind you, I think I've just seen the best b&w on the whole site in one of the current challenges.

Here are a few of my recent BW shots. Trying to get away from shooting objects and landscapes. My subjects were being silly with a friend of mine. They had a blast as I shot a few.

Are you all commenting on any of these shots in here or are you just posting? I have tried to comment on a lot of them. I love comments! :-)
