Don't forget this one, Shez; there's something about the calligraphy and the honeyed ornamentation that just shrieks "Shez! Shez! Shez!" to me :-)

Lovely to see you hanging around, "sweetie" :-)

Great idea, Shez. I'll play.

My tribute to Diane Arbus. I realized that I could use photography to engage in a conversation with the masters.

This was my next revelation. I realized that I could make something with no regard for score whatsoever, an anti-photographic photograph that only had any value if you put all photographic considerations aside.

My first portrait of blank confrontation. He seems to be looking at you as if you are the photograph.

A story hidden in a composition.

I found the significance of the photo with my title.

I created my own iconography, opening up possibilities of mixed media creations.

To continue from the above, I did my own version of a photoshop filter.

One of the few times I actually stopped the car to take a picture. Everything fell into place and I managed to press the shutter button and capture it, without having to crop.

Another of those rare times when I envision a photograph and then am actually able to capture it.

Another favorite, but this one I found *after* I took the picture and converted it to black and white.

I love creating a "sculpture" whose only purpose is to be photographed. That is one of my greatest discoveries at DPC.

It's a true joy photographing my dogs as a form of remembering.

Probably the best photo I'll ever take.

Hi Shez! You have such great ideas, and this is a great way to spend a rainy Sunday.

This was a significant turning point in my photography. DPC opened my eyes to a whole new dimension. I spent all week looking for wind and I found my creativity.

DPC forced me out of my comfort zone, and I discovered I could take good portraits. Of course, much credit must go to my very photogenic husband. :)

I don't particularly like this photo, but by creating this, I discovered the reason for my early childhood nightmares, which had been a mystery for more than 60 years.

While trying to mimic Sherpet's style, I learned to use design effectively.

This one hurt (my first brown ribbon). I learned DPC doesn't like blur, and I did buy a tripod. But I still like the shot, blur and all.

DPC taught me I can convey emotion without using human models. Also, I listened to the comments on the challenge entry, and made some modifications. The result garnered a blue ribbon and $400 prize in a museum exhibition/competition. The first time I realized I could compete successfully with other artists.

My first DPC ribbon, and my favorite photo of my husband.

I learned about Lensbaby on DPC, and what fun I have had with it!

Again as a result of a DPC challenge, I learned a new technique, and shot one of my favorite impressionistic images.

This is the last photo taken of Cory, my youngest daughter, and it is the way I like to remember her.

And finally, this expresses my feeling about my daughter's death -- a reluctant angel that sadly went to soon.

Thank you Sherpet for this trip down memory lane.

Nice thread, Shez! It's good to see you coming back once in a while!!!

Just a quick selection (so much to choose from)

First time I tried motion panning.

This one made me start to make more food photos.

I'll never forget I was just sitting there and watching those beautiful horses.

One of the greatest April Fool's days I ever had :) (and my first ribbon)

A very impressive moment in the forest

I can still smell the ink here.

Won a dinner for two with this one :)

I really should go out more!

Can't go to the zoo anymore without thinking of this photo

The world is so nice when it's raining.

Still one of my favorites

My most time consuming photo

Terrible photo, but happy with the end result after 2 1/2 year photography school (DPC's fault, never regretted it for a moment)

Shez - it's always super-good when you join in the Forums. Thank you for being you!

Photoshop has been an enchanting medium for me in photography, so without exception,
these have all been, well, enchanted in some way.
For me the enchantment is in the experimentation.
Each of these is a different form of experimentation.

The Seeker
The Druid's Hall
Pipe on the Wall
Shorebirds
Advance, Men
Space warped G G Bridge
Sunflower

I enjoyed your images, Alice, but...

But...

But...

How did they make you feel? That's the point of this and what I'm enjoying the most in this thread.

Oh, that's an easy one, Lydia. I altered my explanation to be more explicit...

"For me the enchantment is in the experimentation.
Each of these is a different form of experimentation."
Or, thinking of it in another way: "What would happen if..." is a never-ending fascination.

Oh. THANKS, Alice!

I do love that.

I hope to see folks tell us... about each image... as Shez did... What makes that image special to them in their remembrance... their emotions? Their life?

I will have to take some time to consider this when going through my portfolio. I want to FEEL what I felt ... again... when I look at them, and try to explain what it means to ME.

I love looking at other folks' images... because they make me feel something. But, what I want to feel, by the explanation here... is what the artist was thinking and feeling at that point in his/her life. What made them say what they were saying... wanting us to hear?

People from the Hell we make. Survivors.
ETA more explanation - I have this job that involves teaching Norwegian to immigrants, or otherwise easing their passage. Here are some of them.

I haven't been that long at DPC but I will join Shez on the memory lane. In order of importance:

Not much of a photo but it was a symbol of my recovery from the brain tumor. I was determined to go skiing to Whistler in Canada 3 months after the brain surgery. It wasn't easy but I did it! And I was there this year for the 6th time since surgery and took this photo:

Then there are photos I associate with home:
. . .
Our driveway . The frogmouth outside my bathroom window . "Our" wallaby . Yarra Valley

And finally my obsession - photography:
. . .
My first DPC ribbon . My current PB . My first long exposure . My obsession with light and fog

And a fun photo!
