 Well this is a great and pleasant surprise. Thanks everyone for the comments and votes. My husband, the model, is the really happy one here. He loves this portrait.

I'll update the pp details later. I didn't do anything extraordinary, just adjusted the exposure, contrast, and colors. The shade on the lamp that lit this shot was a soft yellow, so I had to adjust the hair and beard quite a bit to remove the yellow cast.

Again this is just an outstanding [portrait, full of character, almost looks like a person or the captain, out of a stern sea written book or movie, and also a gentle giant IMO.

this is a wonderful image JuliAnne! The thumbnail caught my eye and the large image does not disappoint; I didnt see this challenge-fabulous! Look at your scores, no 1s 2s or 3s!!

Really great textures in this one, for me it is just a tad too yellow, i would have added a tad more desat

Congratulations on your ribbon. A very nice "half" portrait. Looks like the ancient mariner. Remember that your husband in a set of oil skins would make a good challenge entry in the future some time.

Very nice portrait with interesting lighting on hair and color. Crop a little tighter on the right. Too much darkness there.
