Taken at about 135 deg to the rising sun instead of 180 but this was the only time we saw sunshine either at sunrise or sunset in the last 7 days. Amazing! And this in Melbourne in the fall, usually plenty of sunshine.

There was not much light on the frosted grass so the quality isn't great. I spent hours on PP, still not very good. Pity about the weather.

[May. 16th, 2011 10:54:31 AM]

7.1 at 30. Incredible! If it stayed in this vicinity all my recent hard work would be rewarded!

[May. 17th, 2011 07:50:39 PM]

7.23 at 67. WOW!! I hope it stays there!

[May. 20th, 2011 04:47:17 PM]

7.42 at 100. Amazing but looking at some entries I don't think this will get a ribbon! It should make Top 10 though. A 7 and no ribbon, that will be disappointing!

[May. 21st, 2011 08:29:36 AM]

The score has dropped but still on 7+. I will be very pleased if it does well because it is a very unique photograph - a view at the end of our street. There are only three families in our street and nobody else has ever photographed it!

[May. 22nd, 2011 10:53:43 PM]

PS The frost was all gone half an hour later when the grass got full sun.

Just over an hour to turnover. Will it make Top 5??

YEEES, Red Ribbon!! MY FIRST RIBBON!!

Thanks everyone for your comments and messages. I am so happy to get this after a significant change in direction of my photography a few weeks ago.

The 3 PBs in 2 weeks, a 7, and a Ribbon mean that I made the right choice!! :)

Fantastic landscape! I really like how it transitions from the cool color of the frost to the warmth of the sunlight. Congrats on the red!

Congratulations Margaret, I'm glad to see that your work paid off :-) it's always tricky to mix cold and warm tones in the same picture, very well done.

Thanks, Sherryl! I am not far from Heidelberg and quite often cycle along the Yarra where there are big boards with posters of Heildelberg School paintings in spots where they were originally painted. It is nice although I have to admit that I had to work quite a bit on PP to show off these nice colours! (there is not much light at sunrise)

Congratulations Margaret. I love that golden, hazy light. You did well to catch it because it was a crummy week for sunsets/sunrises, wasn't it?

Beautiful contrasting colours between the sunlight in the trees and the frost on the ground. The mist is just gorgeous. As this is advanced editing I would have spent the time cloning out the power line as this image is worth it. Well done and good luck.
