Here is one of my all-time favorites I've seen on this site.
Reflections on a Single Past by Gordon
This is right up my alley... the kind of photo I wish I'd taken so I could hang it on my wall.

Well, I always find myself going back again and again to a photo that really struck me all the way back in the "Upside Down" challenge:
Child Pose
I'm the only one who gave it a 10, and the only one who selected it in my favourites (but then, favourites didn't exist back then, I went through some older challenges when that feature was added). I love it. The colours, the framing, everything. Other people wanted the beam and rope removed, but why? They add to the scene. They give it realism and contribute to the composition as a whole.
Anyway, that's mine.

I looked and looked through my favorites and can't pick a most favorite. So I just picked the one that made me laugh the most and still does every time I see it.
I like this shot because it tells a story. I love the teeth marks in the cookies. The kid doesnt care how much trouble he gets into. It is cute. inspzils shot "Got Milk?" Most humerous

Smiling Right at You by joshuamli is one of my all time favorites and is most rememberable to me because it was the first photo I saw that attracted me to this site. I instantly thought that this site was a place for me.

It's not WHAT you photograph but HOW you photograph it that makes it a great image...

OK I tried my BEST to narrow it down to just one. I really did. But I can't do it.
Here are my joint favourites:
Boscs and Gourd
v .00
Peach Explosion
Taking Cover
Castles and Shells
Cowspace
We believe we can fly...
Carefree
Skimmin'
Flying on the pond
Of course, I have a lot more than these in my Favourites list of images from this site - several from challenges prior to my joining here.
Too too hard...

i'd really like to believe that. i would. but how many people look at a photo and go "oh cute! a child do something funny! 7!" or "oh bah, not another flower! 3!"
and the camera you own plays a role in that too, btw. show me a picture taken with a camera under 300 bucks that's ever placed in the top three. i'll go make a list.

The current first place picture in the occupations challenge was done with a camera costing under 300 dollars.

For as poorly as I've done in 5 of the last 6 challenges, and it looks like the current one "4" as well, I can have a little solace knowing that I get a picture mentioned in this thread, even if it wasn't necessarily your favorite.
Just to keep up with the thread, I really liked Manic's "Daily Cocktail." I thought this was a very strong image carrying with it a powerful social, political, and personal message of what some individuals do every day just to make it to the next.
My $.02, 12 months same as cash, no interest till 2004

Most photographers' quality of equipment improve as their skills improve. Very serious photographers are wanting to get or already have pretty decent cameras. So, of course, there are going to be more photographs at the top that were taken with high quality cameras. The reason is not because of the cameras it is because of the photographers. A skilled photographer can still make a great photograph from any camera, he just may have to limit what that shot is. Some people simply try to take types of photos that their cameras are not able to do well with. If they stayed more within the capabilities of their cameras and they improved their image editing techniques it would be much harder to tell which photos were taken from a high end camera and which were taken from a lower end camera. I have taken images with my Canon S100 2mp camera that are every bit as good as images from my Sony F707 as long as I didn't try to enlarge it too much. Here is an example. When each image is viewed at the medium setting it is not easy to tell which one originally had more resolution or manual settings to work with. If they were only shown at 640x480 without the camera names I bet very few people could distinguish which is which.

Hands down, my favorite submission was Afternoon Coffee by Malapropam.
I love the colors, and more importantly, it makes me smile every time I see it. Hopefully, I'll grow old with my wife like that. :)
Merry Christmas.

Its really hard to pick one photo but one of my all time favorites here has to be Panache by Karen Bryan. It seems like every time I see it I tend to stare at it forever.

I keep coming back to this photo. It really hit me, and IMHO should have done much better in the competition because it really made me feel blue. I love the feeling and the lighting and just the entire picture! Forgotten... Is by far my favorite picture on here though I do have a lot more on my favorites list!

First of all, I bought my camera at a garage sale for $200 and it has produced three top tens and this ribbon. That doesn't mean on the other hand that I don't drool over owning a Sony F707/717! Maybe someday.
My favorite shot was one of the things that led me to this site as well. It is:
Lonely
It is one of those shots that just tell a story that I enjoy so much. Some of the others here are also among my faves and Rackats winner from last week ranks right up there for me also. The shots seem to continue to get better every week and that is fantastic!

I am lucky to own the best equipment that money can buy. It is just too bad that I am singularly lacking in talent to be as creative as others. Yes, I am definitely having fun at DPC, but I never expect to win, place, or even show. My mind is just too technically twisted and overly strict. I cannot manage to transform it to become as inventive and free as others have so competently demonstrated.
Everyone at DPC should know by now that it is not the camera that makes a great image. Rather, it is the eye, the mind, the heart, and, yes, the soul, of the photographer that is able to encapsulate a moment in time and strike an emotional reaction from the members who view it and grade it so well.

Tough question. Looking at my favorites page, I actually had three that would be my favorites. Of them, I guess A Melancholy Song would have to be my all-time favorite at this point. From the first time I saw it, it hit a nerve with me. I love the coloring, the focus, the innocence. I don't know. I simply think it is an awesome picture!
