Thanks everyone for all the wonderful words! On a personal level I am quite pleased with this image. It may not have received a ribbon--but I got enough positive feedback through your comments to still make me feel like a two time winner ' - )

| Very nice photo, I can see it doing very well this week. It had great texture and colouring is perfect. It is a good composition, with the fruit taking up all but one corner of the photo, and the way you have laid out the fruit is very well done. I've voted this a 7. - Konador |

| Niely done. I like the blending of colors between the pear and the gourd. The only thing I would change is the black area in the upper left corner. It seems a little distracting to me. |

| The wonderful rich colours of the pears are reflected beautifully in the colour of the gourd. Good clarity and focus make this a very pleasing composition--well done andrewm |

This is just beautiful and the colour and light and textures remind of me of an old painting. I just love the textures of the pear and gourd. I can't decide about the black area to top left, it feels a little unbalanced yet when I cover it with my hand the photo does lose something. That black seems to tie in with the shadows between the objects.
Anyway, it's just lovely.

| The color tone here is gorgeous. This bronze is evocative of Old World richness (think exquisite still life paintings, a hint of parchment from Da Vinci), so this is not only a beautiful photograph, but something that takes me into another time. Nice framing, good repetition of curves and speckling, nice balance in the pears' stems -- the whole composure keeps the eye happily roving over the sumptuous shapes. I am hanging between 9 and 10 on this one. Only things that would keep it from being perfect, to me, are the few blemishes on the gourd. |
