there were a LOT of -great- images in this challenge (i'm glad I didn't enter it! it was rather like a free-study but with less images entered...and uh- quite diffrent titles!)
anyway...
You have rated 195 of 195 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 8.0718.

Cool stats! Yes, some very good images, but unfortunately many DNMC because of the titles. :(

yeah i noticed some I hope won't get DNMC'd tho...
Make an image to fit a three-word title where the three words begin with consecutive letters of the alphabet.
TO FIT (it doesn't specifically mean to only -use- three words right?)
and it doesn't say that you can only have the words of your choice in consecutive order- just that you have to use consecutive letters of the alphabet in the beginning of the words IE: ACB BAC CAB CBA BCA ABC (they're consecutive letters of the alphabet, not in consecutive order) :) --there is the in the box way of thinking...and the outside of the box thinking ;) i dont' seem to fit in a box... no matter how i try to squeezeee...... ;) :-D

I don't know...seems kinda straight forward to me, especially taking into consideration the title of the challenge...with three examples of three letters, in order. Now, I don't have a submission in this challenge, so no real dog in the fight. However, when I am voting, the title is going to carry serious weight since that is integral to this challenge criteria. |

Yeah, I counted the title fitting the picture far less a penalty than the title simply fitting the challenge criteria. I didn't see any that were BAC or BCA for example. It seems everyone grasped that they should be in order. Some just snuck in other words, hyphens, some rambled on, etc.
This is like the cool game Acrophobia: The Fear of Acronyms. I never voted for clever entries there that used extra words and hyphens either.
Fun game though. :)
So this was a free study pure and simple -- you just had to take a cool picture and then fit the title to meet the challenge theme. Pretty easy.

Voting is tough on this one. There are so many images where the title is creative but doesn't fit the picture, and then I have to give a DNMC vote. |

I always wondered how people could utterly and completely miss something important in the challenge description. I guess if I didn't have empathy before I do now. I got the three consecutive letter part...I just didn't make words out of them.
:(

I made words out of them, and I'm not faring much better than you at all. I have two comments, both raving about the picture and how the title is one of the best in the challenge...but have a 4.92 to show for it. I guess that since I've apparently not figured the challenge thing out in 4 years that I should just hang up my camera altogether. Sigh. |

Being the "Glass is Half Full" guy that I am... let's look at the positives: being that your profile page has 3 ribbons, and 7.2-6.7 for your PB's (oh, and your recent 4th place in Games II), most would consider that you have indeed figured out this Challenge thing ;O)
Oh - and congrats on your 200th Challenge !! :O)

Hi all,
I can certainly identify with those who missed the point of the challenge. I read "three consecutive letters of the alphebet" and everthing sort of jumped out of my head.
I am curious about my scores. As I am a bit of a geek so I made up a little spreadshhe to compute the actual scores as the averages rolls in. I am told I got a 10, in one of my 5 comments... I am so proud... and I measured a 7, but I also measured a couple of 2s. Understand, I am not complaining. I am just curious about the weighting one should place on the various elements of an image. Certainly, some for matching the challenge, and one for technical performance, and if it were at all quantifiable, one for artistic quality. Being a geek, I have a real hard time with the last.
Anyway, I will pay closer attention to my next challenge. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

My view is DNMC = 1 or 2.
Anything else, if they tried and had some technical issues, but met the challenge, then it's a 3 or 4 or 5.
6 and above is for really good images.
Again, IMO.

Thanks for your scoring insight. I think I tend to score a bit high as I think so many of the shots are better than mine, and I would like to think of mine as average. I guess one should keep all thing in moderation, including humility. :-) |

Mine is similar but skewed towards higher scores. For this challenge anything where the title is not 3 words gets a 3. If it is also not a technically good photo is gets a 1 or 2, but it has to be really bad to get that.
An average photo gets a 5 or 6. If the first impression of a photo is something that makes me think "wow, that's nice" it gets 7+ |
