Biography: I have been an amateur since my dad introduced me to photography when I was about 8. My first camera was a fixed focus 127 camera and my dad and I made contact prints from shots from that camera. That was over 50 years ago. Both technology and I have changed in the interim... technology for the better, me for the worse.

I joined this forum in the hope that it might help me to improve my skills from snap shot taker to average artist. Now that I have been with DPC for a couple of months, I decided to quantify some of my shorter term goals here.

    1. Participate in at least 2 challenges per month.
    2. Receive scores that are equal to the overall average for the challenge.
    3. Get as many comments as I give.
    4. Enter a portrait challenge without being embarrassed to do so or humiliated by the results (big challenge)
    5. Have the three challenge rolling average of ratio of my score to challenge average score monotonically increase (geeky and huge challenge; sorry canít help it, it is the kind of guy I am).
    6. Participate in at least two GTGs per year and meet some of the wonderful photographers of whose work I have become so fond.

Signature: Once one has sufficiently defined a problem, a solution becomes obvious.
