to the people that asked where my previous 2 shots in this side challenge were taken:-
They are within a 5 min walk from each other in my home town of Plymouth, UK.
And Stiger, to answer your question, there was actually a busy road to the right of the boat. I chose the building as a lesser of a background distraction.
Thanks for the comments, appreciated much!

Week 12
I'm a little late this week with my photo. My son Rentrenz and I both had entries in the Harsh Environments II Challenge, so didn't want to post anything from that shoot until it was over. Happily, we both finished in the top ten, and it was my first top ten finish. I am extremely happy:-)))
I really am sorry about posting another landscape photo! Honestly, I'll try to venture into different areas shortly. I'm really enjoying a lot of the urban shots I've been seeing in this side challenge.
This photo is of a very special place in the desert west of the Salton Sea, near Borrego Springs, California. Font's Point was created by seismic activity, and looks out over the Borrego Badlands. What an incredible area it is!
From some of the comments, I thought I would upload the color version of my photo. I like the color version better. For some reason, the b&w conversions of my desert shots don't turn out that well.

I sat out of DPC for a while, but I am now back...and I can say that it is good to be back.
I promise to catch up on commenting in the next week or two. There are a lot of great photos that I need to go through in this thread and I hope to catch up by shooting and posting as we go through the spring.
Here are a few make up shots that I took while out:

Week 8
Week 9

Speaking of Comments...
I just want to bring up the subject of commenting.
PLEASE COMMENT! Oh, a bit too obvious:)
Hey, comments help us all. by giving comments on the images it creates a moment of reflection on both sides, for the receiver and the giver.
Plus, I am getting some PMs saying that there isn't much commenting going on.
In the very first post on this thread, commenting is strongly encouraged. And, giving is an integral part of any community. Plus, think about when you post an image and it gets NO comments. Nobody likes that! So, break the cycle.
Did I mention that we all should comment more?
I try to comment on every image. There are extremely few images that do not provoke some thought. I probably missed some, because I occasionally try to catch up and I know I miss some. Do not worry about catching up on commenting, if it seems too overwhelming. Just start from here on out and make it happen.
So come on, give out those comments.

Just back from a 10 day holiday, haven't had chance to either post or review anything over the last couple of weeks, but will get caught up over the weekend. |

I'm double-dipping with this one -- I used it in the Word and Pictures side challenge. I'm also cheating since I took it last year, but I really like the way it came out, and it's new to DPC. 8) |

Week #9 - Seeking Refreshment & Direction at the Altar...
Updates with Original creation in color... ; New creation as suggested (ceiling replaced by sky with sepia filter added)... ; Finally, radial gradient filter added in effort to homogenize the whole (So, if you can't stand looking at it, maybe you can "drink it all in")...

I'm more or less caught up with commenting. I'm trying to hit everyone, but I'm giving priority to those who are also commenting. I'll echo Bud's request - if you want to fully participate, in addition to shooting and posting, please try to comment as well. Thanks!
