I am not an art major and had no idea of the art concepts when I submitted mine first shot to DPC for Stil life.

I learned really quick what still life meant after that challenge. And to always look up the concepts if I dont understand them clearly ;)
Oh and I dont have to try to get a brown ribbon. I got on my first try ;)

Low 4's and I still think its funny. Over a hundred challenges later and I may be a little bit better:) but I have done worse. |

It is funny. Unfortunately, (as evidenced by my Spectacles entry) humor may be appreciated here, but does not necessarily bring high votes.

| i had beginner's luck. my first scored a 5.75, but then the next few did consecutively worse and worse. i'm pretty new here, too, and since asking for help and advice, my last two submissions (which are still in voting) are keeping their heads above water in the low 5s which makes me feel i'm improving. this site has a lot to offer helpwise. i'm looking forward to see what i can do once i've learned some more skills. |

Yes, that image number only has three digits. :)
It had a bad score then, I cringe to think of what it would score now. I remember just being glad that I didn't come in last (that would be later). |

Actually I have entered my first ever challenge, which is riding on 5.2ish, which is kind of what I was expecting. If I get anything higher than 50% place i'll be frilled given that some of the pictures are very good (although a little repetitive... like bananas!).
Inspired, I entered a picture into Framing III, that I expect to get a fabulous score of.... 4 or so! :-(

Voting is nearly over thankfully, hope I don't get my photo disqualified for that. That would be a good start, disqualified on a first entry! :-( |

You wont be DQ'd unless you violated some editing or date rules.
Welcome to DPC and good luck! 5.2 is not a bad score for DPC.

Thank you, yes edited out.
Don't think I have violated any editing rules, at present my skill only goes up to the basic editing level anyway, lol. Am amazed at what can be achieved, although yes, I realise the basic rules of taking photo's need to be in place first of all.
