I'm working on "S". I like this "Snow Slide", but I believe this version looks too busy. What do you think?
|
I think that will work fine with a little tighter crop, especially when it goes b/w....

Like this alot!
I think I will try to reshoot the coil shot with better lighting. I think I like it best as an "N" even though it's lower case. Do you think that's a problem?

Wow, that looks so good so far! I am well on track to adding my x photos, John...I will have the b&w x shaped processed and sent this weekend and I'm hoping to get my xylophone any day now so I can shoot the colour one...
I can't wait to see it all together!

I finally picked up my camera again. Here's my W color picture.
Let me know if it's ok. Still working on b/w W and trying to not think of Bush for that one.

Here are my submissions for 'S'. The color one (Sailboat) looks a bit fuzzy here, but is much better at the 2.75 X 3-inch size. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I'm going to process this later today (definitely needs sharpening and a tighter crop) but what do you guys think for an X shape? Is the X apparent enough?

Definitely an 'X', Mike!! I like it a lot. As a B&W this will be an eye-catcher (IMHO).

Thanks...yeah, I forgot to mention that the colours seem bland but it should have enough tonal range and contrast to look interesting in black and white...

Update:
I will be having this thread locked tomorrow evening and starting a new one. We are going to need quite a few replacement volunteers if this project is going to be completed.
I made a rather large mistake when I formed this project. I put the names of the volunteers on the release forms, which includes the assumption that no one would back out.
Here's what is going to happen:
1. I will start a new thread tomorrow night asking for replacement volunteers to fill the gaps in this project.
2. I will be asking at least two of the existing photogrpaphers for replacement photos that are stronger than the ones I have now.
3. I will be creating a NEW release form but I won't require it to be mailed to me. I did originally want to have the hand signed forms but I'll be willing to give it a try with a scan of the original that you can email to me. EVERYONE will be required to do the new form and email it to me. I'm sure everyone doesn't have a scanner though. If you don't have access to a scanner, you will need to have someone scan it for you or you can mail it to me again via the postal service.
Keep your eyes open for an email update tomorrow night. I will post a list of the volunteers who have sent images and/or forms and I will provide a link to the NEW release form at that time.
I think the work we have here is admirable and I have decided not to let it fail.

If you don't have a scanner, just take a photo of it in macro mode or whatever nearly fills the frame -- it will be plenty legible.
Thanks John. |

I would prefer scans if at all possible, but I guess this would work in a rush...

I have this for A Picture Alphabet and this or this for Alphabet Soup. I still have a few hours if you would like me to try something else. I'm game! :o)

I think its looking good too. I am still 22 photos short of the 52 we need. Hopefully I'll get a few more tonight and tomorrow.

I'm open for suggestions about what to put in that open block at the end of each of these designs...

Can we consider some verbiage, like "A Collaborative DPC Project" in the empty squares of each of the projects? Maybe spreading the letters out - in order - but in differing fonts, without hyphens...?
Or should there be an image here? |

You could rearrange the images, like...

We have a while to think about it.. the rearrangement seems to create even more negative space.. i'll try to find something to put in that last open block...
