Gone But Not Forgottenby autoolComment: This photo serves its purpose well. The composition is formal, but dynamic enough to imply some emotion. I'm sure a lot of people are commenting on the bottom of the wreath being cut off. I really do like the way you framed this, though... a little bit more on the bottom wouldn't have hurt, but I like the strong shapes. The reflections on the memorial are nice. It's a good photo, even if I'm a bit disconnected from it emotionally since I'm not an American (although my grandfather fought in Korea). |

Portrait of a Beautyby byetkoComment: Nice portrait. I like the shadows on the bridge of her nose, especially. I get a feeling of this woman's personality, rather than just being presented with a pretty face to look at.
Whoever took the photo of the girl looking up, lit from below (I forget the title right now), should have a look at what you did here with negative space. You've left some empty space in the area of the photo that her eyes lead the viewer towards. This is a good technique, because it makes me wonder what she's looking at. That goes a long way to creating that feeling of personality and a level of intimacy with the subject of the photo that a tighter crop wouldn't have given me. |

Power Cubedby ManicComment: Interesting idea. I like the fact that you used a square crop. I can't really find anything to critique about this photo technically, but thematically it isn't interesting to me at all. Worth a high mark objectively, but it doesn't grab me on an emotional level. |

wet leafby shutterflyComment: I love it! Great colours and textures here. The water juxtaposes against the grime and decay really beautifully. The composition is spot on, and the light is soft enough to make that blue glaze on the pottery almost glow. Very nice work. |

Earthbound Starsby mjcecilComment: Beautiful! I love the shapes of those flowers. The light is lovely and soft, and the blaick and white adds richness to the broad leaves under the flowers. The only thing that doesn't seem to work for me is the slightly boxy composition. All those flowers compete to be the centre of attention, and lead my eyes around and around. It might have been better to frame around one or two flowers than the four of them in this group. |

Lemon DROPSby justineComment: The composition of this is pretty good, although the colours seem a little bit washed out. I like the DOF you used, bringing the eye right to the stem area of that front lemon. Thematically, though, it's a bit dull. |

Yuleby KimblyComment: Hehe, I recognise this :). The lights don't quite create the same kind of impression the barbed wire did, but it works on a completely different level. Kind of surreal in a humorous way (a bit Dada?). The effect of the coloured lights against the skin is gorgeous, turning it mostly green like some kind of forest sprite. I love the shadows on the neck.
Just... interesting and weird. I love it! |

Last Year's Resolutionby myqylComment: This is an interesting black and white study. I like all the dirt and grime, and the texturing on the wall and floor. It's an interesting commentary on our modern consumer society (if you want to get all cerebral about it :)).
It lacks something though. The photo is overall a little bit too grey, and I think I would like the shadows to be slightly longer and stronger to life the exercise equpiment from its surroundings more. The composition seems a bit too formal and static... some strong diagonal lines would help it along. Nice work though. |

Primary Swirlsby CreativeFlyPhotoComment: Gorgeous! I love the composition here, just ordered enough to work but just loose enough not to look too staged and static. The interplay of light and colour is beautiful. The DOF gives it some nice depth, and I especially like that there are little flecks of dust... perfection makes me feel uneasy. I'm giving it 10! |

Morning Shadowby tjuneau13Comment: This is a very atmospheric image. It definitely puts me in that early morning mood. I'm the kind of person who can be hypnotised by shadows on walls, especially when they're as lovely as this. The colours here are beautiful and warm. I think I would have liked more of the chair to be in the photo, though. As it is, it draws my eyes out of the photo, looking for the rest of the chair. Nice work, otherwise. |
