Redneck Palm Pilotby ShiiizzzamComment: Simple, but effective. This made me laugh out loud!. Hand color may be a bit blown out, but nice non-the-less. |

"Rose Tint My World"by GinaRothfelsComment: ~~~~Critique Club Comment~~~~
Rose Tint My World
Composition (Content)
Nice use of subject and tree. They make for a complementary layout. It makes me wonder what the gentleman is looking at.
Background
The hills in the background add a nice touch to the scene. They disappear off into the horizon leaving no hard horizon.
Camera Work (Technical)
Your focus is a little soft. Not sure if this is due to the rose tint, or on purpose. Contrast and lighting seem ok.
Digital Processing (Technical)
Sharpening is fair( May need to use unmask sharpen)
Balance between light and dark is good. ( Good tone throughout)
Compression is good( No noticeable compression artifacts)
My opinion
I'm not familiar with the song, but the composition of the shot is good. I feel that your focus and over tint of the red is a bit distracting. Could this have worked with just a hint of rose? All in all a nice shot. Message edited by author 2003-01-14 14:04:46. |

Knights In White Satinby jmsetzlerComment: ~~~~Critique Club Comment~~~~
Knights In White Satin
Composition (Content)
Getting a lot of use out of the $10 chess set :-)
I really like the lighting in your shot. It's enough to make the knights standout from the darkness, but not so much as to illuminate the surrounding board and background. Your placement, crop and framing are spot on (*there may be a little more space on the right side of the frame then the left). Darn near perfect I'd say.
Background
I like how the board fades into the darkness. It gives me a feeling the area they are in is much larger then it is. You board is nice and clean too :-)
Camera Work (Technical)
Perfect. You know how to get the most out of your camera.
Digital Processing (Technical)
Sharpening is good( Crisp, no artifacts)
Balance between light and dark is great. ( Good tone throughout)
Compression is good( No noticeable compression artifacts)
My opinion
You have truely mastered the art of shooting chess boards. When I get to that phase, I'll give you a call ;-) Seriously, I think that this is one of the stronger compositions. The two knights with their curves against the contrast of the lines in the board have a good yin yang effect and complement each other well. Nice Job. |
