light's ebbby aelithComment: The first time I saw this, I was pretty hard on it with my scoring, but it deserves better. Excellent detail, and the snag in the middle is lighted really well. I'm betting a lot of folks with the famous uncalibrated monitor are killing you on brightness, because it is a touch dark. I suspect that a print of this would disappoint you because it would come out darker than you think it is. Awesome composition, though!

Last Year's Resolutionby myqylComment: Those resolutions from last year frustrate us all :-) I think this shot could have had a lot more perspective if some different angles had been included. I always try to think of how a commercial or a movie maker would portray things like this. Never flat. Always use some angles to pull the viewer's eyes to where you want it. A combination of vertical and horizontally adjusted angles can do a lot. I think you meant to use the rule of thirds, but it would have been more effective if the lines at the floor and walls pulled the viewer's eyes from the corners of the shot to the rule of thirds point. As well, don't ever let these jokers convince you that EVERYTHING has to use rule of thirds. That's bunk - it's just a guideline. Center it if you feel that's strongest. Good luck! |

Yuleby KimblyComment: This particular shade of green really seems contradictory to the yule idea. You've gotten some nice effects here, but they don't suit my personal photography fancy. I can't decide if you're a person who always has trouble with the tree lights or if you don't like Christmas in general. This shot just conveys a little bit of sarcasm from the artist to me. Is that what you intended? |

Christmas colorsby kevinswopeComment: Even though I know all these are Christmas colors, perhaps its the particular shade of green in the background and the highlights on the purple that clash. I think this would have been improved with a light background and softer overall lighting. I also can't find a particular spot in the photo that really portrays sharp focus. If you worked really hard at this and I'm being too hard on it, I apologize :-) |

Turkey Feather Still Lifeby KazComment: I think the background is a little bright, but that's just my taste. I've given you a 9, because this is a very high quality image with good composition and basically good color and lighting. |

Happy Holidays!by timj351Comment: It's very hard to effectively put a bunch of Christmas lights on "film", but you did a very nice job. Looks like you had a better than average subject, but it is still very nice. Good use of the contrast tool to get rid of some unnecessary background features. |

A Splash of Color by RackatComment: Excellent color work. This could be a tutorial on how to effectively include all the primary colors in an image, and the stopped motion is beautiful. 9 |

Earthbound Starsby mjcecilComment: I'm giving this a 9. For some reason the BW shots this week are really good. There is a little shadow in the background on the right that distracts me slightly, and the whites on the right are brighter than those on the left. Probably lighting, but it unbalances it for me. Good job. |

Hanging On by welcherComment: This is very well done, obviously with a quality lens. Even if you post processed it to get this, it is still very nice. |

Harsh landsby NatashaComment: This is an incredible shot, in my book. This an excellent bw. My only complaint are the antennas on the buildings, and they aren't your fault; they just affect your image. Good sky. Did you use NeatImage to smooth that up a little, or is this "original"? Either way, it's great, and it's one of only four tens for me in this challenge. |
