If you should make a print of this available, I'd be very interested. Please do let me know.

Here's the story behind the pic. My grandson and I got on the Scrambler and I held the camera at arms length and snapped about 5 shots, hoping the composition would be right. This shot is one of them. Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement.

Whoa... hang on a moment... you're a GRANDFATHER... at age 34? Yikes, I'm 34 and I just barely feel old enough to have a 4-year-old!
09/09/2002 04:21:00 PM
Great!

love the eyes, it bothers me to chop! off the hands and crop the top of the head unless something more distracting may have been it a slightly loser crop.

nice candid portrait. GOod use of black and white to intensify a mood.
09/08/2002 03:05:00 PM
Wonderful expression. Beautiful contrast, light and focus. Great work. 10 - floyd

He sure looks upset about something! Great BW effect

Terrific expression. Poor kid, he must not want to ride that ride. Actually, that's the exact expressionmy nephew gets when he's just been reprimanded. This is a very nice portrait, -- which to me does not make it "not candid", it's an unintentional portrait. The framing makes the shot. Black and white was a good decision. I like it. 8, just-married

looks like he's in the dog house? 7

I've seen what seems like a million pictures of people's kids, but this is the only one I really liked. 6 -lennier

Great pic! First 10 I've given in 2 challenges.
09/04/2002 11:57:00 PM
I love it when you're able to capture expressions like this on people of any age. It really makes you wonder though, what could be bothering him so bad. Nicely done. I also like the reflection in the steel.. make the mood even colder.
09/04/2002 09:45:00 PM
You need a snappy title to go with this great photo.
09/04/2002 05:58:00 PM
I like this image a lot! The look on the kid's face really grabbed me.
09/04/2002 04:27:00 PM

Cute kid factor -- awesome shot and capture of his expression. He is precious. karmat

Definately the BEST of SHOW!!!! Perfect picture in every way. Expression is pricelss, the reflection is great. Actually he looks much younger in the reflection so it almost looks like a "growing up" shot. Is that what he's so worried about? Sharp shaped on the shirt contrast wel witht he muted shapes on the metal. If anyone questions it's "candidness" they have never lived with a four year old. 10 and my favorite!
09/04/2002 10:18:00 AM
beautiful shot. great tonal range. love his expression. love the reflection. love the pattern in his shirt. great composition. in my opinion i dont see how you could improve this image. 10 goodtimecharee

Fantastic portrait… The shot itself is of a very high standard, the composition and exposure are superb and the use of B&W is out of this world. This shot is unfaultable. But… I think the challenge link is perhaps a little weak, having said that, there's a fine line between posed and not posed… (9) Great shot, good luck…
09/03/2002 11:07:00 PM
Very nice shot, I like it ... would like to know what was happening or where he is ... nice B&W tones, nice exposure / lightning. Very nice children shot. 8 . Lionel

09/03/2002 04:41:00 AM
You're right... No title needed... Great shot
09/03/2002 01:52:00 AM
Very interesting! I like the boy's face!
09/03/2002 12:29:00 AM
"Pouting" may have been a good title for this one. Or maybe "worried."
Great lighting and sharpness.
09/02/2002 11:10:00 PM
mood captured - this isn't what I imagined when you said the trip would be fun!
sincerity of expressions - good
09/02/2002 10:00:00 PM
beautiful shot..like the reflection..the boy's expression..the composition...grayscale is the perfect choice.
09/02/2002 09:25:00 PM
nice portrait. Is he scared or angry? I like the reflection too.
09/02/2002 09:17:00 PM
unhappy little feller ain't he?---8
09/02/2002 08:51:00 PM
My only complaint is that you didn't provide a title. I'd love to know whether he's on a ride, or a bus, an elevator... or whatever. I love his expression -- looks like he's in "Time Out!" Very well done!
09/02/2002 07:06:00 PM
Congrats on a GREAT SHOT!! Fantastic tones, expresion. Wow. Love it. Justine

09/02/2002 05:03:00 PM
Great contrast, and use of reflection. I think this picture is well balanced.
09/02/2002 04:25:00 PM
This is definately one of my favorites of the week. The expression on his face gives loads of emotion to the picture. Also, good composition...I love how you've captured the reflection in the metal wall..adds a lot of interest. I maybe wouldn't have cropped so tightly on top, though...but maybe that couldn't have been helped. In my opinion, this is one of the few picutes of the week that truly meets the challenge in every way..a real candid moment with good photographic technique...great job! 10 -KrazyKat
09/02/2002 04:24:00 PM
Great Image. I dont think this would have evoked the same feeling in color as it does B&W. Good composition. Good use of lighting. Nice angle. DOF is clear which enhances the reflection making for a well balanced image. Great job!
09/02/2002 04:17:00 PM
Definitely an unguarded, (and unhappy!), moment. Love the b&w, the composition and the lighting. Good work! lhall -9
09/02/2002 03:01:00 PM
love the expression...looks like the day was too long. 9 Lisa
09/02/2002 02:49:00 PM
I really like this, but he seems so unhappy or tired or something. Works well in B&W. Whites are a bit blown-out in places. Good capture though. ~indigo997
09/02/2002 02:17:00 PM

09/02/2002 11:51:00 AM

09/02/2002 05:40:00 AM
this is what i call candid.
09/02/2002 05:04:00 AM
He looks in a bit of a mood. Good photo. Untitled though which is a shame as I feel picking the right title is part of the challenge.
09/02/2002 04:12:00 AM

I really like this one, the photo is exposed astonishingly well. This is my favorite so far, it really has a wonderful feel to it.

09/02/2002 02:32:00 AM

09/02/2002 01:52:00 AM
I like the look on his face. He looks like he just got in trouble.
