It's funny that my first capture of a Meadowlark looks more like a comedy of errors than anything else. I managed about a half dozen shots in 4 days that would fit this category, some better than this, but I didn't manage to get them processed. Still, with the absolutely gray sky I thought this worked anyway. Hey, I'm on vacation!! LOL

Thank you all who commented. I've literally been stunned by how well this image did. It was taken out of my car window and I was this close to putting something else in last minute and here it winds up with nothing lower than a 5. You could knock me over with a meadowlark feather. And speaking of car windows, 3 of my top 5 had at least one element of the image taken from inside my car, so I may need to rethink this whole walking around thing. LOL

You want "royally irritated" you need to shoot bluebirds. Apparently they are responsible for the phrase "flipping the bird".

Fantastic timing to capture this moment! Love the action you caught on this bird as it is parked on this road sign. This Meadowlark looks royally irritated; like he can't quite reach to scratch that annoying itch. Congrats on your Blue!

A worthy win! I think the bland colors truly highlight both the bird and the pose. Really well done. The walking around thing is clearly overrated :)

nice sharpness, would be a tough challenge to enter and think a vawendy squirrel would probably win. Like this image overall.

Great idea! You captured the bird very well. I like the high key exposure on the rest of the photograph and this would definitely make for a good contest in the future. This is definitely one of my top picks in this contest.
