hey rachel RKT .. i would really love to join in ..
altho most of my shots look pretty much like shopped snaps a heap of them are serendipitous .. in fact most ..
i took these a couple of days ago and if this sort'v thing fits in your side then count me in .. :)
also the occasional insect .?:):) ... they're usually pretty serendipitous as well .. coz its not like you can tell them wot to do or set it up .. :)

What if?....
I just hold my camera over my head and click the shutter?
I put the image out of focus and deliberately overexpose?
I move the lens between two points during exposure?
I try for an "anti-composition"?
I zoom the lens during the exposure?
I throw everything out of focus?
I defocus the lens during exposure?
I cover my lens with a vaseline-coated uv filter?
[these are older photos of mine, and no claim is made that these are "stellar" images - I was just trying to provide some examples of how experimentation can be one path to serendipity]
Walking that path means you will have more misses than hits, but the hits will surprise you. Happy accidents can be sought. Go forth and challenge your camera!

in the same vein, when i switch subjects, i take a shot before focussing on the new one.
but this below is a motion blur just for the fun of it.

I was thinking more along the line of in camera experimentation for this particular challenge...throw caution to the wind and see what happens when taking the photograph.

Took my son to the park this morning and tried playing around with some of krnodil's techniques. Here's a "what if I move the lens during the exposure?" type of shot. |

Just noticed this thread. I've been MIA for a while now, and this looks like just the kind of creative kick in the pants that I need. Mind if I join, as long as I can get the rust off of my camera? What a great group! |
