Last image until next weekend as I hit the road again in the morning. I will be looking forward to checking this thread in the evenings from my notell-motels though! |

I played around a bit with the "defocus during a long exposure" technique this evening, using my cat as a model. It was a lot of fun! These are my 2 favorites.

Not exactly serendipitous except that I hardly ever see these birds.

Funny story (or not depending on your pov). We went to Six Flags Great Adventure Saturday. We have season's passes this year, but spent most of the summer going to the water park so we wanted to catch the very last night of Saturday Night Lights (fireworks) since we hadn't gone to the theme park on a Saturday all summer. It was just me and my son so we agreed I'd only bring in the camera for the first half of the day and then leave the camera in the car after we went out to eat so I could go on rides with him. During the course of the day we made our way to the lake where I caught up to this guy. I wondered why he looked so bad. It took a comment I got from bassbone to actually put 2 and 2 together. At the end of the day we went to the lake to see the fireworks show. The music started, the fireworks started flying and to my horror, there were flocks of ducks, geese and swans flying for cover. They were flying from one side to the other as fireworks went every which way. Now, don't get me wrong, the show was spectacular. I sat there wishing I had my camera with me to capture at least some of it. But I couldn't help wondering how many of those birds became casualties that night. And this show had gone on every Saturday night starting on July 4th and ending September 5th. So now we all know why he looks so bad. |

This photo was taken almost exactly one year ago. It has already been viewed so many times, I feel sort of funny about posting it in this thread, but... I don't have anything new for now, and it's my best example of "serendipity" ...

All done in cam with very little editing...mostly just cranking up the color, cause I love the juicy colors.

This wasn't what I set out to do in the first place - so serendipity? |
