Avg Vote Received: 5.6395 after 43 Challenges...plenty of stinkers but my last 15 or so have been a major improvement

I did that for a while, there was a point i actually only entered member challenges... But its all numbers and fun anyways, I try to enter every challenge now especially having a choice for the open challenges. Sticking with only what Im good at would be kinda boring and defeat the purpose of learning and experimenting. The worst that can happen is that your get a brown ribbon and your average drops a little. The best is that you win the blue ribbon when you least expect it. The only thing i would advise against from first hand experience would be last minute entries... they usually dont do well.

Yeah, great going! I've been slacking off and only have 67 so far ... and I'm afraid I don't need too many fingers to count up the scores. |

5.878 for 43 challenges this year...it's better than my overall average so I'm thrilled. I entered 73 challenges the first year and had an average of 5.4 something, and overall for 116 total challenges I have a 5.6437. It sure gets tough to get the average up much when you have entered so many challenges! LOL ;)

I know what you mean Laurie. I have over 264 entries now. When I first started my scores were terrible. Its too bad we can't drop off pictures that we don't like from the distant past as we go forward! |

Well I have entered 4 challenges average 5.4355 average, Highest 6.584 lowest 4.585. I have to wonder if I should stop entering challenges that are beyond my natural scope of what I like to photograph. The ones that I am inspired by I have scored well on(in my book anyway) and the others might as well have not entered. But the idea behind me doing them was to broaden my horizon and get comfortable with my new dSLR. Oh well a poor average here wont show up on a resume. It wont will it? :-)

I thought the idea of the site was to help you improve as a photographer by "challenging" you to photograph things you ordinarily wouldn't.
