Don't worry. It's mostly a popularity contest. People list the ones that come to mind first. There are tons of great photogs who haven't been picked.

I wouldn't need 5 photographers to help me start my own business. I'd do it all myself through hard work and determination.

If you want to know who is most likely to be on these people's lists, just look here instead...

//www.dpchallenge.com/favorites.php on the left side, second box down.

That being said...I'd think about asking DrJOnes to come along and bring some of his women :D

I broke the rules too. I picked 10. I also picked the top 10 from my statistical list that had the most total votes. 21 was the top 14 was the lowest #. I then looked over their body of work to see what made them statistical favorites of mine. Was an interesting exercise. Here's my list:

jjbeguin
Ability to make the simple, complex and vice versa. Eye for every day elegence and enhancing drama.
Example:
Seaside Arabesque

dsidwell
Landscapes and vision of nature's artistry is second to none.
Example:
Little Bear River

alansfreed
Night shots to die for. Humor and risk taking regardless of the possible consequences seems to be a theme.
Example:
Meet the Griswolds

train
Riotous color that oozes richness and detail.
Example:
Confused spider on tropical water lily

EddyG
Precision. In everything.
Example:
Synergistic Snowflakes

moodville
Style and light usage. Eye for nature and wildlife.
Example:
Shades of Autumn

TooCool
Demonstrable improvement in style and ability.
Example:
Orange - study in warm tones
Example2:
Police Lineup

Coley
Humorous storytelling.
Example:
Its all fun until someone loses an eye

agwright
His ability to use light and composition.
Example:
Cracked...

Sonifo
Phenomenal color usage in landscape artistry and her portraiture tends to have that emotional spark that brings it beyond a simple portrait.
Example:
Flower Girl

I'm fairly background on this site, so I hope my interpretations don't offend the artists above.

Been playing that "wanna play" game thread..and I have to say I've come across so many new portfolios that I likely would have missed searching for photo's. Its been a great exercise in getting to know this site and its contributors. The sheer talent on this website is overwhelming. My point is.. I chose 5 people whose work made me stop in my tracks and aspire to be better... but each day there are more for a whole vast number of reasons.. livin learnin and growin...

Great community... ~jes sayin'~

I would have to say also that I have discovered a few new photographers from the lists people have created here and I have added a few new favorite pics to my list!

I decided to have a go at this. I took it from the perspective of if I were to have five photographers working under me who produce consistently unique and sellable work.

I would start with Kiwiness.
Thanks to Anastasia, he has access to a great studio, and thanks to his imagination, he can produce phenomenal photographs.

Next is Arnit. It is my feeling that Arni, GraphicFunk, and EddyG are the best technical photographers around town, but Arni goes above and beyond with his surreal concepts. There is something about all of his shots that is mystical, curious, or just plain hilarious.

JJ Beguin. I can recognize one of his photos from a mile away. He is one of the best captors of motion, time, feeling, and composition. When he presses the shutter, a masterpiece is born.

David Sidwell is a master of nature. Surrounded by some of the most majestic scenery, he takes his inspiration of the outdoors and displays it in his photographs.

Nazgul is arguable one of the best portrait photographers on DPC. I feel that he is highly underrated as all of his shots just bleed with emotion. Like him way better than Joey Lawrence ;)

Wow. Well I wish I could do more but I feel like I will conform with the rules.

There are many more talented photographers out there, some more consistent than others, and I feel that these photographers are just the ones that better please the masses.

Thanks,
Lee

I find this whole exercise exhilirating. I'm finding and rediscovering people as well. I'm not excluding in the sense that "no I don't like your work," in fact, I'm adding more to my favs today just by seeing what other people have brought to my attention.

BRAVO!!!!

Judi and naomik you are both very talented and I'm only to pleased to bring it to the attention of the DPC community.

I am not a member yet, but I learn from each and every photographer on this site. When you learn and grow in an area of your life, you must give credit where credit is due. Everyone that has been mentioned so far, is due all the exposure (pun intended) given them. My top 5 is Sonifo,librodo,crabappl3,joey Lawrence and Bear music and soo many more.

Sher, he just doesn't have a very good business plan... a full service photography studio that only had 5 images would go down the drain faster than a turd in a airline john.

I disagree. I agree, this is all about sucking up and a 'popularity contest' if you will. I think the number of ribbons or top 10 finishes speaks for their talent...this is rather exclusive, and really doesn't help but to blow up the egos of those who already have huge egos. ::COUGH:: ::COUGH:: bear_music, joey lawrence ::COUGH:: ::COUGH::

I have my favorites, and they're on my favorites list. I see no need to talk about them here...if you're curious, click on my profile and see who they are.

This thread was asking who we would hire, not who our favorites are. There's a difference. Why make this into something it doesn't have to be?

No one is...and if you look, and RE-READ WHAT I WROTE, you will see that my intention was to show the relation with who people would hire, and who is the most favorites on the site. If you would look closer, instead of just making silly accusations, you would see the link. Never did I intend to say that this post WASN'T about who we would hire...just that it's stupid. Give it a rest, and you don't make this into something it doesn't have to be.

I wanted to be a sycophant, but all the good photographers were already taken. So, I decided that I would be my own.

Damn, I'm so good, I'd hire myself 5 times.

You rock Mick!!!
