It's amazing how when sometimes you break the rules it works. You don't follow the rule of thirds. The centerline of the image matches the heads of your subjects almost exactly. You don't have any leading lines. You're frame is almost empty. You have a great amount of 'bald headed' sky. You're slightly oversharpened causing slight haloing around all the dark areas. It's basically a snapshot. However it moves the viewer enough to bring you a win.
Congrats on the first ribbon, a blue even!

Aside from its obviously beautiful color, really excellent tonal values (note the not-quite-ilhouettes, rich in shadow detail), and strong sense of "family at play", there's another aspect of this image that's enthralling, and this is the sense of "altered scale".
Note how all the image elements are essentially on a single visual plane, and how the tree is the same visual size as dad. Note the "person-sized" cloud drifting gently off to the right, as if towards tomorrow's future.
The more I look at this image the more I like it. I honestly feel that in a "real world" sense this is one of the better images ever to ribbon in DPC. It's intensely human and superbly metaphorical.

Nice early evening color. Good capture of a shared family moment. Horizon level.
On the technical side the smal rectangular object on the far left is a slight distraction and you might consider cloning it out.
Try out a couple things for a better silhouette and you might be amazed at the result. Add an adjustment layer for selective color and chahge just black to +70. Then add another adjustment layer for brightness/contrast with settings - +30 contrast, -40 brightness. These settings are a bit much but the effect on sky color is phenomenal and you have a better silhouette. |

| Three daughters? Don't you think that's taking the Rule of Thirds too far? Lovely family scene. I especially like your POV ... it breaks the jumping daughters' earthly shackles entirely; joie-de-vivre! I'd have knocked a sliver off the side behind Dad, to lose the little square thing behind the tree. Otherwise it's terrific. 10 |

| Almost perfect. If it could be a bit warmer (white balance, that is). I am going both ways about the tree. It almost works because the scene also has a bit of a cloud and water(?). As a matter of fact, I don't really notice the tree having much affect on where my eye goes. Nice job freezing the action and capturing a nice moment. |

Beautiful color. Amazing action capture in such low light. Nice composition. I'm very envious. Really like this one.
I see weird things that most people don't; and that cloud at the right looks like a lizard or turtle head sticking it's tongue out! I think it's really cool, however this photo would be better with just the plain sky, it IMHO. |
