I've been floating about this site as an interested observer for a couple of months now, and I have reached the conclusion that this is the best picture I have seen here.

Brilliant.

This very elegant subject that is well represented, however, has the image been cropped to achieve the square format? If this is so, I would have to pass on the photo as I do not approve of cropping as a valid photographic tool. It is great for comercial art, but has little place in capturing the moment in light.

Thanks to all, this was a real suprise, and a good one! Before the vote I was wondering if this picture was not going to be considered off topic or confusing...as often.
This was taken on the Mediterranean coast after the terrible floods we have had in this region. Water slowly oozing back to the sea.

I have a few new water-related pitures on my profile page.

I'm glad I came back to this again. The composition is very nice, especially in relation to the light source. I would probably find this shot to be appropriate for shape, form, and texture! Lots of visual interest here, with the repetition of shape and form constantly drawing the eye throughout the shot.

Beautiful use of sidelighting. Gorgeous image. Great perspective and depth of field. My only negative point is that the sand is a bit pixelated (oversharpened) and also I am not so sure about the greenish tone. Still, very beautiful shot.

This time I've looked through all the photos before I started to vote. Your's stood out on first viewing and it stand out now when I've looked at them all. You've caught the natural shapes of sand so crisply, chosen a great composition which both lets the eye travel into the distance and lets the viewer see what is happening by showing a before and after of sorts. It fulfils the challenge and it is the kind of picture yo;d love to see everyday hanging on your wall. 10

Beautiful! I am not sure that I like the square format though, I've been looking at the pict with the top "cut off", and, at least to my eyes, it's a bit more attractive that way. Bu t just now I looked at it whole, and it was beautiful also. I don't know. Very nice picture.

Don't like the title but the image is great. Absolutely the kind of study of shape and texture that I like (and take myself, though not as well as this). Great diagonal from corner to corner.

The shapes are really interesting, the texture stands out strongly, and the low, slanting light brings out both beautifully.
