Well, I volunteer as a back up for Ohio and PA. I live in Pa, and think the Liberty bell or phila will produce the mosti fitting image (on first thought, not original I admit, but hey, that's where the state got the idea for the slogan).
I used to live in Ohio and no live about 4 miles from the state line. I have some ideas..more original than the LIberty Bell idea.
I could potentially do W.Va if no one steps up. The state motto is not particularly exciting to me. Must take extra batteries as electricity is scarce there, being new technology and all (sorry, gotta pick on W.Va. State law I think). I am not far from there as well, and know some nice areas to shoot.
Please don't judge my abilities by my challenge entries.

Well, I'm already participating in the Alphabet project but I'd love to be a back-up for Georgia if no one else responds from here. I know there are a few other folks from Georgia but I'd hate to see this project fall flat if nobody else responds which I's sure someone will. :-) |

I will be a backup for Minnesota. I know there are others here from the "North Star" state. All this time I thought we were the land of 10,000 lakes.
I also second the post about it being seasonal. Whatever the form the project takes on, wouldn't it be nice to maybe do two seasons? |

Yea, this came up as well when we were figuring the theme out. The details on an exact submission deadline will be anounced once we get all fifty states.
As of right this post we only have twenty-one states filled. So this means that there are still thirty spots available for this project. If you know someone who may be interested in representing a state that has not yet been chosen, feel free to PM them and link them to this thread.
This project will probably extend through the Winter and at leat into the Spring as well. We will have one final deadline but will obviously take submissions prior to the deadline. So we'll keep you updated. Sorry about not clairfying this earlier.

Lee,
It would be interesting to watch this project grow... You may want to edit your original post to include the 50 states and which of them have been filled. It also may require some profile searching to look for participants from the states you are missing.

"North Star" is kind of lame for a motto. I want something more along the lines of fortune cookie. Although I think Utah and Montana got the bum deal with us. |

Chris's offer notwithstanding, I would be willing to be the WV contributor. Having lived here for only 10 years, I still laugh at the stereotypes, and I may have to consult some friends for ideas on capturing "Mountaineers are always free."
Please count me in.

I just recently moved to Illinois, however I cant think of anything for that motto! I can do Utah since I will be there for 2-3 weeks during X-mas and New Years visiting family (as I lived there until my move here) just PM me. But I must say, please others from these states step up as I am still learning and may be better as an alternative. ;)

Please put me down for Colorado and New Mexico - Van has already put his name down for Colorado so I can be the back up for that. We live so close to New Mexico and are there all the time so I'd love to be listed for that state. |

I'm putting you down for Utah right now as I know there are many photographers from Illinois. We can make changes as necessary.

We don't know the exact time limit on this project yet but as suggested by a couple users, the deadline will most likely be some time in the spring. Please let me know if you are interested. |

Would this project be open to the state slogan as well as motto? The motto for Virginia is Sic semper tyrannis (Latin, "Thus always to tyrants"), which I would never have been able to call up off the top of my head.
However, the state slogan "Virginia is for Lovers" is a whole lot more recognizable and at least to me makes for a better photographic scenario than the official motto. |
