Yeah, I got your PM right after I sent you an email with my info. So, I sent another email just in case you didn't get the first. You didn't get either one? Hmmmmm, can I PM you with my info so that I don't have to list my email address here? Let me know. Otherwise, I'll list it here and pray The "Evil Spam-doers" don't get it. :-)

Thanks John. :-)

Clarification:

I think there may be some confusion here now....

Project 1: Alphabet Soup

This project will require making a 2.75" wide by 3" high photogrpaph of an object that begins with your assigned letter... A for Apple, B for Ball, C for Candy etc etc etc...

Project 2: A Picture Alphabet

This project will require making a 2.75" wide by 4.5" high photograph of some arbitrary object that LOOKS like your letter. The object's proper name doesn't have to begin with the letter...

As soon as I get two more email addresses that I'm waiting on, I will be sending out email on the project...

B is for Bridge

I took this at Lunch today.

The DP Pixel resolution does not have quite the same impact as the 300DPI original

This is great news. I have a question. If we want the pictures for printing our own project, will we be able to request them instead of a poster? Or how is the poster going to be passed out to everyone?

You will get the high resolution digital file. You will be able to print it yourself, have it printed, and sell it if you wish.

John, can you post the usernames of the two participants you're waiting on? It may be that they "think" they've replied but in fact the reply was lost or sent to the wrong address.

I'm still waiting on one, but I went ahead and sent out the information on the project last night.

If you end up with any openings on this, I'd be happy to serve as a backup. This one sounds like fun.

This might come across as sort of a dumb question but what's the 'mood' or 'theme' of these projects?

Ignore me if you believe I'm thinking too hard, but will it look strange to have some 'studio-style' isolated object shots mixed with more emotive photos mixed with journalistic shots, etc.?

A - apple, isolated against a white background
B - beetle, isolated against a white background
C - child, shown begging on the streets of Calcutta
D - door, shot abstractly from above
E - egg, isolated against a white background

...I know, maybe I'm thinking about this too much.
What do you guys think?

I would love some feedback on this.

What do you feel about the composition?
Colour (is it too blue?)
Etc
Etc.

I have only been at this a few months and would appreciate some observations.

(I am a delicate sole so please be gentle but also be honest)

Hey Artan, Here's my take on your photo. The lighting of the occasion works well to emphasize the architecture as does the composition of the image. I think the blue tones enhance the solidity of the steel and create an almost lonely atmosphere about the image.

There is something stark about the image that reminds me the foot bridges that cross freeways. They're often windy, lonely, noisy and on hot days are almost uninhabitable.

I don't know if this is that kind of bridge but that is the feeling I get from the image.

As for the image in relation to this challenge I think it is fine. I would have shot it a little differently but I'll do it my way on my letter :) I think this project is going to be very interesting. I think that everybody being encouraged to do it their own way will create a very effective, rich and even emotive result.

thanks for the comments. I was trying for a shot that emphasised the steel construction.

I have to admit that with the light we have in the UK at the moment, I am a little restricted on how I take the shot.

This was taken at noon yet in auto bode on the camera the flash was set off...

What do other feel about the image.....

Well Guy..I went to school for fine art and have a masters in art and art history. Your composition is what I would call a near miss. You have the right idea in creatin the perspective..which I think you did an excellnt job at getting to the point..But when you reach that (point) you come to a dead end where there is nothing to look at. If you moved a little closer to the side of the brigde and lowered the sky a little bit. I feel the arch on the top of the bridge would have brought the eye back into the picture. Just a little differnt position..by just a little bit woul dhave made the world of differnce.
I am harldy a good photgrapher..just starting out taking pictures. However I do have over 25 years of fine art under my belt. But you were so close..
