Fun image to play with.
Used Nic's Silver Efex "pinhole" with radical use of the sliders. Then added a little touch of 'edges' via topaz cartoon, with some erasing to get rid of outlines around foreground birds. A touch of burning and there 'tis.

we have just about finished another Tuesday (where I live) and this fun side challenge seems to be winding down.

I'm due for week 7, but in the likely event we don't get that far, I'm posting a couple of images
(because I couldn't select just one). Also, the full size jpeg image is in the remarks
section, because after all these years, I don't know how to post it correctly and couldn't find the
instructions (if any exist)

So have at 'em if you like:

Two in one day :-)
Had to go a bit extreme because original was quite dark even if it degraded the quality a bit when brightening it up.

I just realized the lack of editing steps. The massive reason why is because I rarely go beyond curves, contrast. In the boat image I just desaturated a little and then brought back colours through sponge (the boat and flags) and painted the water with brush on colour mode and very low opacity.

In the sky image there's an obvious crop, contrast, curves and then dodge and burn with some saturation adjustments.

This is really informative.

Many thanks to everyone for posting your steps in processing these two 'problem children' of mine.
As usual, it's fun to see the different approaches and the results of each.

I can hear the conversation now! Did they do it with lights or with 'harmless' dyes?
Were the dyes harmless? What about the little fishes?

All I can think of though?
On what image can I best swipe make use of this technique.

It's wildly original. Love it.

So, did that rather wonderful rendition of the Fire boat by BeefnCheez scare everyone else away?
How about the Mendocino coastal scene? Or some of the earlier images posted.

Do we really want to let this thread sink into the Doldrums of the Past Tense?
