What one comment do you remember most or has become your favorite? Mine was for this shot early in my career here at dpc, 3rd challenge i had entered. It was from JPR and it stuck with me i think because it boosted my confidence and i think it was my first fav:

"This is GREAT. I would shoot something like this, but with real beer, and it wouldn't be anywhere near as GREAT as this! I would also have left out the peanuts like the idiot that I am. 10 and favorite."

This one from Scott ( bohemka):
"Awesome job. Sure, he's about to ski backwards off the peak, but he's prepared, with his rope and radish helmet. Honestly a radish helmet might be the safest of all, as who the heck would eat them? Nice poles, great skis. Awesome job on this."

Still makes me laugh.

I have received many great comments but this one from aliqui was my very first comment on my very first challenge entry and is still one of my favorites.

"That's right, hold on to your hat and run, kid!

Cute photo. There's a bit of an awkward composition, but it works very well here. You're immediately drawn to the cuteness, but then wonder, "What's the little tyke looking at?" Your eyes travel across the full length of the photo and then, surprise, "...holy crap, that's huge!" "

"It's such a beatiful moment. I think I'll take a picture of my screen right now to remember it by. 9"

"I like. And the bokeh suits it, just like this Panda-skin coat suits my bald eagle slippers. 8."

"That guy is creepy looking. He probably has a knife to her back. I'm kidding of course... It's more likely a gun. Again, kidding, he's not creepy looking, I just don't have anything worthwhile to say."

"Nice lighting, and I like this chap's face. In a totally non-homosexual way, of course."

"It would be better if he hadn't a parachute"

My by far favorite and nicest comment was by pitrpan

Your work is fantastic, and truly inspiring.
Fun, creative and appealing, and very artistic.
I love the boots matching the umbrella, and the 'dots' on the chalked umbrella half-finished.
You've certainly developed your own style which appears to get better at each challenge.
9.

Whenever I feel down about my photography I just go and read that and feel more appreciated again

I am breaking some rules again but I thought I will add my most fav serious comment by spiritualspatula:
"The person in this is great, and especially the color of their coat. It sorta blends in with the plants, sorta not. My eyes traveled down the glacier, sallying this way and that. After being brought to the bottom, I crept back up the cliffs, discovering the fellow. It was as if I stumbled upon this moment, his viewing, and became party to his awe."

It makes me transcend the photograph and be there again. Wonderful feeling. Thanks.

Oh my word!! This grabbed me from the thumbs. Perfect use of blur, subtle diagonal line, negative space and silhouette. I love it.

Not been here long but that was a real boost to my confidence.

man i wish this guy was still active, he's hilarious! i looked at some other comments he made and found this gem:

"Not really bokeh, but an excellent photog none the less. Or more or less. Or none of more or less. But then less is more, so none the more is less. Or is more less than none? Well time for some chloroform and ritalin."

This one from jaysonmc got what I was going for.

"1940's sci-fi. Yikes, watch out. Love the detail on the scales here. Lighting is terrific, and that claw amazing. This is the perfect type of motion still type photography. You'll probably get pounded by the head police, but I like how you can just see a bit of the lower jaw. It makes your imagination run wild what the thing really look like. Roar! High rated."

Fascinating reading! Another gem:
"wow, purple flowers! what a revolutionary and innovative shot! it almost makes me want to slit my throat with a mayonnaise jar to show my appreciation and excitement!
its not a bad photog, it just isn't great."

Great stuff here are a couple I found from him

"A bleeding, disembowled lung would really spice up the background."
and
"I don't know what the hell you were planning with that border..."

This is my all time favorite comment from xakpeet

"I find myself revisiting this image time and time again. While the angle and the perspective play major roles making this image successful, it is the filter creating the blur that really strikes the imbalance for me; I hate it and love it simultaneously. What better definition of out of balance? It feels overdone and uncomfortable, but in this contest would be less complete without it. I would never process this way and accept this as a final product for one of my own images, but that is exactly why it resonates with me so much!"

Thanks so much again Zak.

Best one yet haha:
"Now, this is a good use of bokeh. It isn't useful, however, as a cooking spice, as I recently discovered"

Hard to say one for certain, but there are a couple that have stuck with me:

Kwilson10
This photo kind of angers me, but i love how it was taken. The reflection in the screen is awesome. Great job.

Posthumous:
ok now I'm pissed because you stole my brown...

Sure, you love them all now, but what if Snippy or some Snippy-copycat arose from the grave and started peppering your precious pictures with his precocious and piquant panegyrics? It'd be to the complaints department!

(The best one is on a photo titled, "daddy, next year will I be old enough to play?". Comment: "no".)

From Bear_Music... "This is mysterious, and i don't like it very much, except for some reason I like it a lot. Don't ask me why. In fact, it's not important why. Heck, if I knew why then it probably wouldn't work, right? For me, anyway. Whatever.

I like that I don't like it and keep coming back to it because I can't let it go. Life can be like that. I give you the Bronze Paw :-) "

And on the same picture from posthumous... "hell yes. I love an image I can't understand even after I explain it to myself.

I'm hanging this in the posthumous art gallery. "

From paulbtlw
I've refused to be impressed by landscape images this month but how can I resist this one? The difference here is that I get the feeling of photographic involvement, not just the capturing of a scene. Your POV is so important in conveying a crafted feel - move your camera 1 foot in any direction and your image would be less effective. Your processing (is it HDR? if so, it certainly isn't over-done) is really excellent.

Optimised in a way many images aren't. Impressive work.

(By way of excusing my opening comment - I do appreciate that landscape work is hard - mine are useless; but nonetheless - few evoke a sense of the photographer as this one does).)
