This one with the M9 same time, same place(not edited) for comparison for those who might be interested. The difference at this size is big but defintitely not huge. An interesting observation (but probably old news for most of you) is that the width of the iPhone lens (unzoomed) is very close to a 35mm on a full frame camera while the height; or ratio, is different.

I really like the colors on that M9 image.

I always carry a camera with me. Especially when there is a P&S side-challenge under way. I was driving to meet a client when a nice 8-point deer ran and almost stumbled across the street in front of me as I was driving in this wooded residential neighborhood. He had his mouth hanging open like he was gasping for air which I found a bit odd. A second later I saw some movement to my left and there was this other Deer. A Bruiser! Apparently the two deer had been fighting. This is the rutting season here in PA and these guys were establishing their territories. I had to drive a couple of hundred feet further down the road to a place where I could turn around and I was hoping that I would get a chance to get a pic of one or the other of the Deer. The bigger Buck was where I had last seen him and I had my camera ready. He had some red on his left hind quarter and I was just about to shoot and he turned and faced the other way. I got 3 quick shots of him and then he turned to lick his wound. He then walked behind some shrubbery and I couldn't get any more shots of him. Do you see how thick his neck is?? Extra hormones during the Rut cause this.

It was pretty amazing to see these guys in the front yard of this house. During the Rut they are more visible because they have only one thing in mind. As the season progresses we will see less and less of theses guys.

I helped my son work on his boat S V Wahine some this evening. It's relaxing.
I may not be around for a few days, so I posted 3 from today.

I thought I was done photographing today, and then went to home depoy and came across this lonely leaf in the parking lot.

My apologies for not having a Nov P&S pic yet. This is from Oct 17th.
I took a P&S shot similar to my Bridges entry and thought I'd post both for a rough side by side.

For everybody that thought my other pictures were so cold, they really weren't! Coldest it got was around 28, which is nothing when you have a nice down sleeping bag :)
This shot was a bit colder, as it was windy, the sun was obscured, and the ambient hadn't had a chance to increase yet. So, 25 mph winds with 40mph gusts and an ambient of around 32. Great mountain weather ;)

I'm hoping to go up to the same area but ascend a bit further and camp higher this next weekend, so we'll see how that goes.

Nov 08 - Busy
11/08/2010 11:21:20 PM · #71

The first was on the way home, and the second in my son's yard after I got there.
I am posting a few extra because I will be away from home the next night or two, then off to Mexico for 10 days. I probably will not be on line while in Mexico.
While we are all pointing and shooting, I would like to remind everyone to check your lens in bright light. With the little cams, I sometimes forget to do that for long periods of time, and when the pix start looking funky, I will find a patch of smutz from a little finger or whatever on the lens. It's just a thought.
