RE: Population and village designation...
I think the interpretation of those terms really varies around the country here. I live in a state that isn't nearly so populous as others, so my standards are very different. I'm familiar with many "towns" that contain 1-200 people, just within a couple hours drive of my house. My city, which has around 130,000 (including the university population of approx. 25,000) is considered a large city by Colorado standards, but isn't necessarily all that large for other states. Heck, look at Nebraska- one of its sports stadiums becomes the third largest city in the state, come gameday... while Wyoming, my neighbor state to the north, which only has two cities larger than 50,000 (with third largest having 28) yet is 77% the size of all of Norway.
