I have quite a few favs that only have 1 fav probably due to my eclectic taste and mood at the time I faved it.
by Germaine: Made think "wow" this person has had a hard life but is still going... kind of a sad image for me...
by citymars: I use to sell materials for high rises and knew some ironworkers so this hit me as "that's construction"...
by Brat: The title says it all - That Special Moment. Beautifully capture...

I have a lot! So I will put my absolute favourite first so none of you will miss it.

This took my breath away the moment I saw it. Of all the photos on DPC this is in my top 2. Maybe it's because I live by the ocean and I've seen a lot of fishermen's nets........but I've never seen nets this beautiful. It might sound silly but this photo is almost Biblical.....I can't explain it, it's almost as if it's living and breathing.
by Mambe

I loved this in voting and gave it a 10 and faved it as soon as I saw it. I was shocked that it didn't finish higher (only 42nd place). It has a vintage feel to it even though it shows a digital camera. I love the attention to detail like the passport and tickets and a toothbrush......which all fits with the title "Travel Essentials" nicely. And I really like the idea of using a map as the background.
by silverscreen

If you look at my favourites you will see a lot of bright, colourful photos. This is one of them. The bright colours stand out nicely against the dark background and black border. It's super sharp and clear and there's a catchlight in the eye. It scored pretty well in a tough challenge and got 7 comments during voting so I am not sure why I'm the only one who has favourited it.
by MaryO

Another colourful photo............but don't hate me because I love flower photos! I love the light and the DOF.
by digifotojo

I like still life setup shots, I like flowers, I like simplicity and I often like high key....this has it all. Simple and beautiful.
by bubeltrubel

I thought this was funny, clever, very well photographed and all over a top-notch image.
by Lonni

Another flower shot, but this one has something different going for it. Yes it's sharp and colourful with excellent DOF, but the flower is unique and interetsing.
by nivlek

How can you not like this photo??? Whimsical, colourful and technically excellent. It makes me happy just looking at it.
by chickadeezl

I love dome photos, probably because we don't have architecture like this around here and I am in awe of them. This one is perfectly symmetrical with beautiful colours and detail. I want to see it in person!
by scarbrd

This is not your typical flower photo. But it is beautiful, delicate and a little sad/bittersweet. The few remaining blossoms remind me of trapped butterflies for some reason. The bokeh is wonderful.
by MaryO

Another setup type shot, this one with a reflection, it's clear, it's cute, it's just good!
by hanneke

I also like macro shots as you can tell from my favourites page. This is very clear and sharp, the lighting is wonderful and the detail is amazing.
brightspark567

Now I'm wondering if I am the only one who likes macros of leaves! This is different than the one above, it's a different type of leaf and it has been shot from the back to show the 3-D aspect of the leaf veins. Again the lighting is wonderful
by mycelium

Sure it's a cliche but it's so well done. Any bride and groom would be thrilled with this photo and a photogapher would be envious of the detail and clarity and wish they could take one like it.
melking

I like the high-key look, it's delicate and a bit different, that's why it stood out to me.
bnilesh

This reminds me of Africa. It's stunning and expertly lit and photographed. Any one of us would be proud to take such a perfect photo.
by Judi

Yes, another flower, but it's high-key, it has the added element of a lady bug giving it the "cute factor" and it feels fresh.
by anniek

Just look at the ladybug......it's perched perfectly on the edge of the leaf, as if it's travelling all around the edge of the leaf, can't you just picture him dawdling along? It's so cute.
by yangblue

I love Christmas, it's my favourite holiday. I also love Christmas photos and take a lot of them. I aspire to take one like this! The white fur as a backdrop is brilliant.
by h2

Another photo by h2 (he used to be called eyewave and I paniced one day when I searched eyewave and could not find him, I didn't know he had changed his user name!!! LOL) A setup shot, a flower, bright colours....everything I like.
by h2

This has an Asian feel to it, the high key background sets off the red leaves perfectly.
by nico_blue

The detail, the different elements, they just all work together.
by BMacD

Abstract architecture shots are another type of shot I like. This is different, unique, abstract, interesting and I like the tones he used too.
by hotpasta

Colourful, well photographed (food and glass are 2 very difficult things to photograph well) and it looks delicious!
by h2

I like the way 3 different colours of fall leaves are put together, it's well done.
by scotthadl

This is so cool, it looks like an eye. I was impressed by the photo.
by sekarmalathy

Highkey, setup, interesting, excellent DOF, another overall pleasing photo.
by glad2badad

This was found on the beach like this, it wasn't set up. It was in a snapshot side challenge and sometimes snapshots are about finding the beauty in everyday things. To me it's a natural bouquet.
by Germaine

Another abstract architecture shot.....great lines, great symmetry, interesting colours.
by PapaBob

Another "how can you not like this photo?" The shadow is quirky and fun, the title is cute.
by ronaldfw

Gasp....another flower!!! I love the colours and it has a sense of movement, being blown in the breeze while still being sharp and clear.
train

A different view of a poppy, the detail is excellent, the DOF is perfect, the bokeh is wonderful.
by artvet

High key but with a tinge of colour that makes it pop....interesting and unique.
JMS

Another abstract architecture shot. Wonderful colours, I love the flow and rhythm this photo has. Briliant composition.
by angkokweng

The title says it all.....Delicate Light. It has a lightness about it, the composition is wonderful with interesting textures and subject matter.
by hanneke

Excellent lighting, perfect black background, unique take on a flower macro.
by AJHopp

So clear and sharp, a frog in a rainstorm, you don't see that very often and if you do it's not as well photographed as this! (yes I know it's probably set up in a studio but I don't care! LOL)
by bobonacus

I've experimented with backlighting leaves and flowers and this is a great example of backlighting. The colours and detail are wonderful.
by dbeau

I like the abstract quality of this, the different textures and elements and the colours. The composition is great.
by BeeCee

Another one by BeeCee (where is she anyway, she hasn't been here in ages)...and another coloursful abstract photo which I like. I normally don't like automobile photos but this is different and creative.
by BeeCee

Another found photo, all natural; there is beauty in the everyday if we just open our eyes and look.
by PennyClick

Fun! Colourful! Quirky! Favourite!
by bnilesh

I loved this as soon as I saw it. I loved it so much I tried to take my own photo like it. It turned out horribly, making me love this even more.
by hanneke

Another fun, cute, colourful food photo. It makes me want cupcakes. Now.
by bauerfan71

Oh h2, I feel you are underappreciated!!! High-key, food, excellent composition. Perfection.
by h2

This is one of those photos you look at and say it seems too real to be a photograph. The colours are outstanding. I feel as if I could reach out and grab the branch.
by glad2badad

Excellent composition, different and well done. The falling snow is a bonus.
by goinskiing

I normally don't like overprocessed photos or lots of filters. In this case it worked. He used fractalius and it just made the frost all whispy and fairy-like. It's a magical photo.
by Ken

Another photo from a side challenge. Simple but wonderful.
by carofo

I like Christmas, I like this photo. Nothing fancy, nothing over the top. Just plain, simple goodness.
by tfarrell23

She did a series using this ornament in every photo. This was my favourite. She said she went overboard with the brushes but I think it looks natural to me.
by colorcarnival

The best photo of a Wood Duck I have ever seen. Close, colourful, detailed, well done!
by noraneko

This was an outtake from the Heart challenge. I liked it more than his entry. Very creative, makes me wish I had thought of it!
by shamer

A unique and creative perspective. The leaves are wonderful.
by JaimeVinas

I like the colours (of course!). Sometimes it's as simple as that. No deep meanings, just colours.
by levyj413

Black background, interesting seed pods, I like it!
by glad2badad

I can't swim. But if I did I would want to swim here. And I'd want an underwater camera and flashes. Maybe it's a good thing I can't swim.
by Motek

I want starfish like these!! The deep burgundy background is perfect for this photo.
by scarbrd

I love Allsorts, they're my favourite candy but I only seem to have them at Christmas time. The one pink candy among all the black and white ones is cute.
by timwest167

This was in a side challenge. I really like the perspective and the DOF. It's something I have never seen in real life, I imagine it's quite spectacular to see.
by bobonacus

I rarely fave people photos.....it has to be extra special. This is beautiful. The falling snow, the dark night, the red clothes all suit the title perfectly. And the snow on the trees in the background almost looks like her breath.
by Jas

Excellent exposure and I really like the tones. The water looks molten.
by ErikV

Such a cute little critter! Excellent detail in the rocks too.
by sailracer_98

Another abstract auto photo by BeeCee. Great colours.
by BeeCee

Another abstract, which I love.
by ralfw

Abstract architecture, interesting perspective, unique!
by Gabriel

Abstract, interesting, my kind of photo.
by TonyT

It's quirky, fun, interesting, unique, & blue!!!
by Rompy

Abstract, a flower and I love how the colours just blend into one another.
by talj

Abstract and colourful, what more can I say?
by Mark

The most unique pumpkin photo I have ever seen. It's a bit abstract, it's cool.
by hyperfocal

Another one by Barry.....hmmm, maybe he's underappreciated too! This is abstract and cool. I had never seen a mushroom quite like this before.
by glad2badad

I faved this before I knew the trick of photographing glass without getting a reflection. But I still like it! I love the blue.
by TechnoShroom

Such a cute photo.....I imagined this was someone's house and I wanted to live there!
by crabappl3

Such a close up of the ladybug! And quite different to have it on bluejeans and not a flower.
by Techo

Such a unique flower!
by AzCKelly

This is probably the least perfect photo I have faved. But to me it wasn't about the technicals. I love lighthouses and this lighthouse is in Newfoundland and I've visited it a few times and I thought the photo was creative for the footwear challenge.
by btuck

Abstract, colourful, unique.

- caused some controversy about whether this was DNMC for shadows (I remain bemused!)
- not everybody's cup of tea but it pushed my buttons.
- no idea why this hasn't got more favourites. I predict that showcasing it again here might rectify that.
- I am bemused here, was hidden away in a side challenge, but nonetheless.....!
- I genuinely believe that this just needs a bit of time to soak.
- Perhaps the overlay is too obtrusive for some.
- This one is so well crafted, definitely needs more love.
- Another of those that I think just needs a bit more time.
- Tried to showcase this one before but didn't get too may takers. Really worth another look.
- Hasn't really been showcased - now's your chance!!
- Communicates life and love - surely I can't be the only one to love this...
- Missed focus entry - communicates well to me. I don't know why others don't bite.
- Conceptually and execution wise, just outstanding - please, please look again!

Just an awesome abstract image. Colorful, implies a sense of very fast motion, sooo blurry but still looks like a door. Was not widely appreciated however, and came in near the bottom of the challenge.

Just so weird looking. I like weird and quirky stuff. I was surprised to find out who it was from after the challenge was over.

I just love goofy faces, and this is one of the best.

This just tickled my funnybone in the right spot and I wanted to be able to find it again.

Well I found I have 86 in my favorites that nobody else does. I'm not about to put them all here, but here are a few of them.

by AmeedEl-Ghoul I can't believe I'm the only one to fave this!

by tnun This ended up 504/521 in a Free Stuy. I love the subtle mix of tones - almost camouflage.

by PennyStreet Love the bold color and abstract quality, and architectural details often appeal to me.

by h2 Another architectural shot which I love.

by avbowler Love the light, love the horses.

by 1m1A Fantastic capture of a terrifying event. This rings a chord with Australians.

....reminds me of my mother

Wow! I must be reaallllly eccentric. I have 29 favs that none else shares with me:-)

If I were to try to categorize them...

(whish also tells me that I fall more for the faces/portaits, followed by shadows/duotones/BWs:-)

I will only elaborate on the portraits/faces since they seem to be my exclusive non-shared favorites (apparently!:-)

Faces / Portraits
The face is gritty yet so composed. Plus the Sepia tone gets to me!
These eyes talk to me:-)
I know there's a thin line between a candid and an exploiting pic. This one is of the first kind!
More than the pretty face, it is the way this one is processed. Engaging!
Are you kidding me? Who won't love this one?:-)
Ok may be I am biased, but I love Asian faces in portraits:-)

Shadows and B&W

Provocative

Kids. Look at those eyes/gaits/faces!!!

Love. It's a shame they have only 1 faves each!

Droplets. Are you kidding me? No other takers???

Candid

Abstract / Others

Macros

This is one from the recent Missed Focus II challenge. I found this to be so enchanting, and it reminded me of a Monet - a little more blurry, of course. :) The light is magical, and the soft colors sublime...

06/04/2010 08:51:18 PM · #35
Just an awesome perspective.

06/04/2010 08:59:50 PM · #36

The composition is simple and elegant, carefully executed.

Both textures are awesome. Feels like I can touch it!

by Patrol
The emotion and detail appealed to me (and was exactly how I was feeling at the time)
