My husband and I own a futon business. I am an artist specializing in portraits and I also do custom painted futon covers and throw pillows. Not only do I paint the covers and pillows, but I also cut and sew them. Another thing I have recently started is making hand-painted shirts. (Cut and sew these also.)

I've just recently graduated from a Chemistry degree and am looking for work at the moment in that area. Would like to get some experience in forensics if I can, may go for a PhD in a year or two.

I'm currently an inside sales coordinator for "The best selling liquid herbal extract" company in the US. I've been there for four years, the longest employment stint in my checkered CV. I have also been employed at sewing fiberglas bags, administrative assistant at AIDS project, newspaper delivery to stores and carriers for distributors in HI, veterinary assistant, psychiatric technician, roach coach driver, limo driver, construction coordinator, techinical secretary, lots of temp jobs, cleaning post-construction new homes and other stuff I'd just as soon forget. Oh, wait! I already have. 8-)

I teach beaded jewelry once a week at a day-hab facility. Also, I make jewelry (//home.earthlink.net/~meccaornate) and dabble in pottery, painting and of course, photography. In addition I do mac computer consulting and photoshop tutoring... although hardly any jobs in that realm these days. Basically teaching, learning, and creating is my story. |

Another geek here... My original profession is graphic design and publishing. I used to work 14+ hours/day in magazine production, and my son was not doing so well at school, so I quit and started home based business in magazine distribution internal auditing (basically making sure that all the figures that get published with consumer bureaus are correct). I still do graphics and image editing for smaller studios (like photo restoration etc...)on freelance basis. I am really addicted to Photoshop and other graphic programs, so I quess that would make me a minigeek, right????? I started in photography 3 month ago, so I am such a newbie, but I love it. Am I loosing my mind, or does anyone else here at DPC dream about the challenges when they are sleeping?? |

Reading that lot explains quite a lot about members here
I left mainframe (cobol) programming a couple of years ago and am now a Technical Software Release Manager for one of the largest Insurance Companies in the world. I'm one of a team (of two) that manage the migration of strategic software releases from the developers workstation through 5 software environments (92 servers) to the 'live' environment, then I let the Live support Team pick up the pieces lol.
