Yes, there's some true beauty in this group. I've scored all, but not commented as yet. Will probably massage the scores again in a bit.

Sadly my score skyrocketed from mid 4s to low 5s, and is back down to high 4s again. Whee.

"Culture" in regard to anything is subjective.

There are some who say that only black and white can be "art". Some disagree.

There are some who think that a crucifix in human urine is "art". Some disagree.

There are some who think that it has to be blurry... or only sharply focused... or only off center... or only... Some disagree.

Don't put a label on "culture" only according to your opinion. Everyone sees something different.

Noone's right. Everyone's right.

Well... except that urine person. *sigh* But, at least he's rich with USA government money.

I wonder about something ... I find it very difficult to comment on the pictures in this challenge, pretty much any of them. I tried, but didn't succeed, so far nothing sounds right. What I tried to write sounded like what I was saying was either critical, or a fake, or simply meaningless (like "Beautiful!"). I think, not sure of this, but I think that it often boils down to a collision between impression and technicals, or maybe more so than that a collision between feeling and pretense. Something like that. Or maybe it is just the fear of sounding uncultured and unartistic, or even biased and uppity. And yet, I can't really go against how I see the world and how I feel about things and understand things, can I? I don't know. Please don't take those words too seriously, I'm trying to figure out why this is happening. Do others here find it difficult to comment in this challenge also?

I doubt that mine would warrant a "beautiful" but I'd be happy to hear what you or anyone has to say...

I'm trying for a few each day because I want to make sure to spend enough time with each entry.

Yes. For that reason, I'm falling back on my usual stream-of-cosciousness/what-the-hell-is-he-talking-about approach to commenting.

Keep treading water, tnun, I'll find you yet.

I'm a Herman's Hermits fan too, Lydia. [insert winking icon]

I wish some uncultured asses would speak to my image. Actually, any ass at all will do.

Wow..

Not only that, but out of seven commenters thus far, you are the only one who has demonstrated that you have successfully connected my subject matter with my title's wording.. Very well done indeed..

My favorite part of this challenge has been the focus on the photo's message, rather than the pretty colors. Seriously - this has been my favorite challenge to vote/comment/participate in.

I still find myself going back in and re-looking at the photos, and eventually leaving a comment.

Congrats all.

Obviously, I don't know which one was yours but I'm glad I was able to connect with it. When the challenge ends, I will definitely look to see which one was yours. Thanks for the nice comment.

yes, J-me. they are appreciated by the majority. That's why they ribbon. Agreed. And yes, "here" is not the correct thread for my previous post. But im not asking the majority to appreciate the ribbon winning entries, because we both agree, they already do. Im asking a "minority" to try to appreciate them as well, as much as what everyone who joined this challenge is trying to appreciate post-humous type of images.

Oh by the way, i really like the two wine-glasses in your top-five photos, particularly the one with water drops.

Thank you for the compliment on my shots. I have an appreciation for all styles of photography. :) The problem that I run into is that I was in quest of that DPC Ribbon (besides the coveted Brown that is LOL...I'm good at those! ;)))

There will always be a "minority" that will not like one style or another no matter where you go or what you do in Life. Twenty people's cups of tea may not be one person's cup. It's all relative.

Personally, I am in love with Street Photography in its truest form but, there are many non-SP fans in DPCland. Street Photography here is a photo taken out on the street in front of a large billboard for the most part LOL ;) Unfortunately, the few who do love true street photography appreciate it well and the rest...well...you can lead a horse to water but, you can't make it drink! :)

I hate Lima beans but, I'll still keep on trying them *IF* someone presents a different style of preparation. I may not like them still but, I'll at least try them. But, by my not liking them, doesn't take away the enjoyment that everyone else who is eating them at the dinner table has of them, does it? Well,....except for perhaps, the person who went to the trouble of cooking them, that is! LOL

The problem is, there are not going to be 100% of people anywhere, with anything who will all have the same appreciation for the same things and frankly, there are those who will rebel by giving low scores to non-posthumous style photos. However, those who can't get past that are in a "minority" and their lowered scores are not going to affect the scores by that much. They're not going to take a 7 down to a 4 so, it's really inconsequential what they do or don't do in the longrun, isn't it?

By the way, a lot of voters are going to vote simply according to which shots fit the challenge criteria more closely than others. They may give higher scores to those who fit that criteria more closely even though they are posthumous style HATERS! LOL

This place is bonkers *said tongue in cheek* and there's no saying what will do well and what won't. Even the so called, lovingly termed "Ribbon Hogs" miss the mark more than they hit it! :)

Hang in there. It's frustrating and heaven knows, I've vented more than my fair share in here over one thing or another but, it doesn't change how people vote. This much I've learned the hard way! LOL

Glad that's over. I'll fill in some comments during the week and adjust scores. I might also edit some comments. I can be wordy, and reading them a few days later, I sometimes wonder what I was thinking. I can only imagine what the recipient thinks.
