Ummmmm, Richard, Dear...are you demanding that I venture beyond the realm of DPC ribbon hunting and into the realm of producing a creatively unfettered and unforgettable image of inspiration for all the world to hold close to their hearts for all eternity?!

That's too much for me...

::Promptly faints!::

Can you have it by Monday?

LOL...Take a number and get in line...;-P

Oh! A comment from bvy...Thank you! ::BEAMS::

I find that to be true as well.

That was painful to vote, lost between my feeling of the pic, Don's supposed feeling of the pic, and the picture itself... Happy it's over.

It could have been me... I actually did dole out a few 9 scores. I do have to admit however that I found "Creativity" to be a tad sparse in the challenge. I had really hoped to see a larger number of images that would make me pause and reflect on the intent of the creators.

A low score, but suited for this type of image. I really love the comments though.

I'm having entirely too much fun commenting and voting in this challenge. I had to stop last night when I exhausted my daily ration of adjectives. My goal is to comment on between half and two-thirds of the entries.

In the bvy doldrums, waiting for my bvy comment.

There are some very beautiful pictures in the challenge. I have to say that I didn't think so at first, but in looking through them a number of times now, I'm finding that at least a good number of them are really attractive to my eyes and mind.

I wonder about something ... I find it very difficult to comment on the pictures in this challenge, pretty much any of them. I tried, but didn't succeed, so far nothing sounds right. What I tried to write sounded like what I was saying was either critical, or a fake, or simply meaningless (like "Beautiful!"). I think, not sure of this, but I think that it often boils down to a collision between impression and technicals, or maybe more so than that a collision between feeling and pretense. Something like that. Or maybe it is just the fear of sounding uncultured and unartistic, or even biased and uppity. And yet, I can't really go against how I see the world and how I feel about things and understand things, can I? I don't know. Please don't take those words too seriously, I'm trying to figure out why this is happening. Do others here find it difficult to comment in this challenge also?

I know I do... difficult to say "it"s crap" in a nice way.

Don't fret the "uncultured or unartistic" aspects either... I would wager good money that a bevy of people in this venue wouldn't know cullture if it bit them in the ass.

There does exist a difference between having an open mind and being a sponge...I much prefer the open minded concept.

There, I said it...let the games begin. :O)

My approach is if it leaves a first impression on me, I say what that impression was, if I think it's just cool looking, I say that. Maybe it brought up a childhood memory. I also leave lots of silly comments. But if it gave me something silly to say, then it also made an impression on me.

Someone finally understands me! Actually, there is some truth in this. I do not understand fine art and culture, I usually don't read deeper meanings into things, but I know what appeals to me. (BTW, my ass hurts and I don't know why...)

How much do I have to pay culture to bite me on the ass?
11/27/2010 04:26:05 PM · #196
Reminds me of the great, great Dorothy Parker pun on the art of growing plants:

You can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her read... :-)

Oh c'mon Bear, that's a bit dated even for me, much more for you.

But maybe we should start up a fund for bohemka?

I, too, found several images in this challenge which moved me. One, in particular, left me speechless. I found words, however inadequate, after a short walk through the crisp winter air.
