I have a lovely comment from the lovely tanguera but nothing from Don OR Oliver. Sniff.... I feel so left out! (No score, as I have those turned off thanks the exceptional performance of my other challenge entries. Exceptional, I tell ya! Look for me in the bottom third or so. I'll be there!)

I think that voting what you like goes against the spirit of the challenge (unless, of course, you normally like the photos to which are given the posthumous ribbon.)

I see this as an excellent opportunity to explore a different point of view. I really hope that people are looking back through the posthumous thread and try to understand why things are getting the posthumous ribbons. If you look back, it's not all dark and blur. There are a lot of posthumous ribbons that I don't understand, but there's also a number of images that received ribbons that were also my top pick. There's a lot about texture, a number about color, and definitely a lot about feelings & emotions.

It's a chance to expand your horizons and see through a different set of eyes.

hmmm interesting thread. I just kept it simple - submitted what I wanted because it had meaning to me. Got a fave - that works for me.

Hope everyone chills as we head into the weekend!

Loving my comments... 4 so far, and though I've yet to crack 5, they make my first entry in almost a month worth it :)

I got 3 GREAT comments so that trumps the score -
Reading this thread and watching other portfolios and trying to figure out the best approach to enter this challenge taught me that the very little I thought I had already learned about this new-found hobby of mine is really next to nothing and probably pointless.

Ironically, I am doing no better nor worse in this challenge than the few others I've entered into.

Looking at the rest of the entries will give me an opportunity to open my mind and really digest what I am seeing and what it might mean to me, and try to see what the photo-taker wanted to convey. It will be as big a challenge to vote as it was to enter - fun!

Wow...

I just looked at the images. There are some spectacular images in this challenge! My thanks to the posthumous ribbon thread. I peruse it after every challenge. Though I don't appreciate many of the images there, it has significantly broadened my horizons. When I started here almost two years ago, I probably would have disliked the majority of images in this challenge. It is great fun going through and realizing how much I've grown in the last couple of years. Well done, everyone!

Funny thing, that's exactly what I did. I took a picture I really liked, and it's a little bit quirky, and I said to myself "Hey! This'd be fun to enter in the Posthumous Challenge!" And so I did. It's a different sort of picture for me, and it's doing pretty well, and it has some nice comments and some faves, so I'd say this is a satisfactory result, all-in-all.

Maybe I'm dense, but I don't understand all this in-fighting going on in this thread very well. It comes as a surprise to anybody here that we have a broadly varied aesthetic in DPC? Heck, I'm just enjoying the pretty pictures...

One of my comments is a nice one from posthumous so I am a happy camper! And I really like this shot. Submitted really early and never gave it a second thought, which is not the case with a lot of challenges I enter. Easier to decide what to enter when my criteria are: something I like and enjoy exploring visually, and something where I can articulate (to myself at least) why I like it.

Greg ( aircooledguy) all the carping and other BS is well &n truly trumped by your post here. It's why I am still interested in DPC. Congratulations on your open mind.

I've never had so many comments (6) for a 5.7xx. All of them except h2] are positive.

I like the fact that Don has a 6+ in this challenge, and especially that he entered.

My score is just above 5 with 4 comments.
I'm really happy to be part of this, part of this challenge.

The photo I entered was not as the one I planned (mentally) but while I was having a walk under the rain, a story crossed my way and I took some photos. I can't say more because I don't want to give clues.

As long as posthumous doesn't mind I'd like to propose a posthumous comment thread to get all his comments on this challenge in one place. I'd imagine it'd make a good read.

I believe in the posting jinx, so I won't. Although the score is above 6. So does that mean I succeeded or failed in creating a PH-worthy image???

This challenge is going to turn me into an existentialist mess. Oh, wait...

I'm so delighted to read about how viewing these sorts of images, trying to create one, and then voting on them, has expanded so many people's pictorial horizons. I don't love EVERYTHING, but I am much more able to appreciate a greater variety of styles, techniques, interpretations. Especially when I try to use them myself. Motion blur? Sure, blur is easy, but meaningful blur, blur with a story... ah, a whole other thing.

@ melethia - my radar detection appears to zero in on you and bspurgeon :-)

Stats: You have rated 132 of 132 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 132 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.0530.

Lots of great images (surprised?). I'll come back and bump my faves as I try to figure out my own picks.

I received a posthumous comment as well. He obviously was not blown away by my attempt, and I will not be receiving one of his ribbons this time around. Overall I am very happy with my score, and blown away by both the number and caliber of comments.

actually -- there seems to be an anti-posting curse going on. I've gone up .2 since posting. But I suppose that makes sense -- there's many things about this challenge that are turn around. :)

Still staying above 6, if only barely.

Got 3 very nice comments, and a mixed (but constructive) one (along with a 5 or 6 I think) from posthumous... Does that mean I failed the challenge? :P

I have yet to receive a comment from YOU, Deb...tap, tap, tap!

My image has rendered Johanna and Oliver somewhat comatose (thus no comments) which is probably a blessing...;-)

Thank you, Don...for your comment...::beams::

Doing well on a shot that I'm sure would do no better than mid pack in any other challenge. It has some flaws that would hurt in any another challenge, but don't seem to matter as much for this one. Received some comments implying in a positive way that it might be a "posthumous cliche", as oxymoronic as that term may be.

LOL! Don't take it too personally, Mae. The comma may have been induced by last night's meal :-)

Incidentally, thank you Don for commenting on everyone's image. That's a lot of work.

Those commas are coma-inducing?
