Day 3 @ 100mm
This guy/girl is no bigger than a dull pencil tip.

Hi,
Here we are on June 3... sorry I missed a day. This photo is an attempt as window light. It is the only sort of female model I am allowed. :-(
I don't have a studio nor a light box, so it was catch as catch can. I recognize the background should have been ironed and/or stretched or something else. I will put the after shot in the June before and after thread.

Day Three:
50mm, minimal processing.
I am cursing my minimal processing oath. I'm a junkie without a fix. :( |

Day 3 @ 50mm
Been working a lot with Black and White lately, and that is difficult for me because I so love color. They say that you have to picture the shot in Black and White to truly capture the shot. Not sure if this works, but I do like it somehow...more post processing than I care for however (dodge and burn mainly)

It appears I have a theme going here. Honestly, I have been working late all week and by the time I get home my models are in bed. So I am stuck taking pictures of items lying around my office.
This was a difficult shot. I don't particularly care for the depth of field, but once I chose the subject I decided to fight through it. I did much more processing today than in two previous days. (none the last two days) I had to remove some dust off the velvet cloth, rotated, and sharpened a bit. Not real satisfied with the end result, but I certainly learned some valuable lessons for future shots.
Thanks to everyone for the previous days comments and suggestions. I am participating in my first two side challenges this month and quite frankly I have learned more in the last three days than I have in my previous 27 challenge entries. |

Sorry I'm late getting started. Hoping for a productive month...fun, too!
I'm going to share a few shots of this old, run down movie theater downtown Paducah. It's a beaut.
"Toward Maximum Entropy"
is a phrase from physics that comes to mind.

@200mm
This looks terribly pixelated to me, and I don't have any idea why. The crop isn't restrictive and I've followed the standard method of preparing it for posting using Capture NX and don't understand why the pixelation looks so bad. Plus the detail suffered quite a bit. C&C + some help please?
Here's the original uncropped too

I'm trying to expand on my usual subjects as well. I like to photograph my fiancee but I'm trying to limit myself to one shot of her this month. Now I'm shooting animals and kids which is soooooo not my thing but I'm actually liking it. I voluntered at my local humane society this week and took pictures of the animals to help them get homes so I will be using a few of those this month. Here are days 2, 3, and 4
50mm 1.4 Day 2: The cat with no name....
50mm 1.4 Day 3: Elizabeth
50mm 1.4 Day 4: Huskie
