Did a little more post processing than the previous two days. Removed some dust off the velvet background, rotated, and sharpened. I seem to be developing a theme. These are just subjects near and dear to me and I enjoying shooting them.

My fave of your efforts so far. You managed the exposure very well, the sword is lit without blinding highlights, and looks great against the deep black background. I like the composition, too.

There's nothing better than shooting what you love! The DOF is fine as is, and I imagine it you'd have to have a very long exposure if you really stopped down. Had you chosen to do that it may have been a good opportunity to paint some light onto other parts of the sword, yet that's just a creative choice.

I like the DOF on this. I think that if you had focused on any other part, it just wouldn't be the same; wouldn't have the same impact.

You really nailed the emphasis on texture and detail on the sabre...for a static object there's a lot of life here.

I like the DoF here as well. I would love to see a diptych - two shots, one from each end of the sword. or 3 - one straight shot of the side. I wish I had a sword lying around my office. Would you trade for a torch and a pitchork? :)

Personally I like the DOF. The one thing I would have liked to see done would have been to have the sword at angle instead of straight up.

Ain't it fun to shoot what you love? Very nice shot. Rich and powerful, full of class and purpose.
