Edit: I added some of the tools I used in processing and my original on the photo details. It was fun to do--I like experimenting to see what I can come up with.

Day 3 Pyramid
I'm in a bit of a slump. Another experiment that hasn't quite been mastered. However, it was a good learning experience.
Tomorrow, that's it, that will be a good one! lol

Cool!!! I've been sort of down in the dumps 'cause IMO, I've been having a bad case of the ordinaries......and I've really been kinda despondent about it.
The last time I got really depressed about my photography, the "Where I Live" project rolled in and completely revitalized me.
I can *DO* ordinary!
So here's my first one.....I drive by this house at least three times a week, and I just love the way I can get so many different takes on it as it just gets more and more decrepit.
This shot was with an overcast sky early this morning and I love the light.
I just monochromed it in the channel mixer and hammered the contrast some.

Agree. There are some amazing shots here. I wish I was better at commenting. Also that my internet was quick enough to give me more time to look at all the images I want to on this site.

June 3
I've decided to concentrate on flash photography for this side challenge. Hopefully I won't run out of ideas before the end of the month!!
Oh, ya and it's a crystal paperweight on my desk.

had a looooong day, and my sunglasses were pretty much the only ordinary thing in it. :)

okay I'm behind but I'll catch up. Went camping all weekend and met some other DPCrs in the Oregon GTG. Took a bunch of shots but don't think any of them will work for ordinary objects around the house. |

I've really enjoyed looking at everyone's images! Wish I wasn't so busy at this time. I'll have more time in the next few days.

I don't have today's object yet -- it's a certain little girl's second birthday, and she's all I've shot so far today -- and I don't consider her ordinary enough to include here :)
I wanted to respond to some comments on my first two shots:
For day one, I posted this image:
I listed "lomo action" in the processing and a few people wondered what that was.
"Lomo" describes a photo that has a particular look that mimics those found when pictures are taken with a "lomo" camera. Details on the sort of cult (though partially created through marketing) lomo movement:
Wikipedia
I assume some of the questioners were also unfamiliar with actions (I was, too, until very recently). An action is an automated set of steps in Photoshop CS2. You can automate such that you press "play" and it does everything, or you can automate so that it asks you for input along the way (such as stopping at a channel mixer b&w conversion and letting you play with sliders) and then starts again.
Actions are found in the same palette with "history", just on another tab. Photoshop CS2 comes with some that I've never used, but you can "record" your own, and you can download some from the web. Here is one site with lots and lots and lots of free actions, including the lomo action I used:
Action Central
Action Central Downloads
With actions, you can actually see what steps are taking place by looking at them in the actions pallet (click on the triangle next to the action to see the steps). That works well for teaching yourself about the methods used and maybe modifying the steps to your tastes. Watch using actions in challenges; each step has to be in compliance with the challenge rules.
Also, this shot was converted to B&W; the wall behind it is a nice Tuscany color, and I almost posted it, but the B&W was cleaner looking, IMHO.
Finally (for this rather long post), people were guessing what I posted as my day two shot:
It is a . . .
wait for it . . .
. . . red towel hung on the line, shot from about 15 feet away at 300mm :) Congrats to all the guessers!
Look for my day 4 ordinary object shot later today!
Best,
Rob
