My there must have been some disappointed faces this morning - over half the shots rated 6 or above, and only 1.3 or so points covering those top 58. Congratulations to everyone: there really were some good photos, and especial congrats to the winners - quite a crowd to stand out from.

yeah. it was already stated in another thread, but i'd like to say it again. that was the best challenge I've seen so far. Almost all of the photos were excellent. it made me proud to be a part of such a high caliber group, even though I didn't become a member in time to join. Congrats to everyone who submitted a photograph, no matter what place they came in. |

Yeah, I was feeling pretty good, score stayed over 6 all week. First time I finished over 6. And only 35th :(. LOL. There were some great shots though, so congratulations to everyone who entered.

It puzzles me how shots I feel are 10s finish in the bottom half, and shots I felt were bare 7s (good try, no massive flaws, but boring and unappealing), well, got ribbons. I guess my taste is seriously off everyone else's in the voting populace. :-> The intersection of all our varying opinions comes to the consensus, I suppose.

Arnit finished 92nd - with one of my few 10s. *shrug* He gets this week's "Bod" award for lowest shot that should have done so much better.

My favorite came in #100 - the kids behind the screen door by Paige. I have never been so far off the norm before. My nines went from top to bottom. |

LOL!
I've been trying to come up with a witty response, but I can't so I'll just agree and say that I rated that shot very highly too.

^ For reference to my inside joke with bod, see this picture. It finished 24th. Are you kidding me? 24th!??! Take 10 seconds to look at it...take 20...then tell me it isn't one of the best shots never to win a ribbon on dpc!

My favorite for dutones was "The Loneliest One" by BigSmiles at 54th place! I'll buy a print of that one if you put it up BigSmiles! This was an unusual challenge because of the quality of the entries, and the diversity in the scoring. I got my best score yet! Very fun challenge!

Actually, I didn't like that one much. :-> Here's some of my highest-rated, lowest-placers:
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=22688 - I gave it an 8. It placed 145th out of 147. :->
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=22401 - I gave it a 9, it placed 107th.
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=22275 - I gave it a 9, it placed 90th.
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=22724 - I gave it a 9, it placed 80th.
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=22215 - I gave it an 8, it placed 73rd.

I got more tens on that image than I've gotten on all my other ones combined and still got 25th. I guess I don't feel so bad now seeing all the other awesome photos that were even lower than mine. |

This is only my second 6 since I started submitting, so I'm quite pleased. Thanks to all who made great comments and gave high scores; those are the ones that give you confidence and boost your ego. I didn't hardly get any negative comments; but those are the ones you really learn from and make you strive for better. This is for those who commented on my lighting and had questions about it.
Thanks,
Owen

Obviously we have two very different photographic senses, Eloise. I didn't score anything except the highways shot higher than a 6. I gave the highways an 8 - but from the others you posted, it's fairly clear to me that you have VERY different ideas on a good photo than I do.
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=22680 10, 4th place

14 9s and 10s.
8/14 in the top 20
12/14 in the top 50
and two stragglers. Arnit's shot was EASILY my lowest placing 9 or 10 and usually I don't have a 10 below 50th.
