Ready to Flyby ElaineComment: This is a fabulously highly detailed macro capture of this dandelion! Wonderful tones and textures in this one. I love how you can see each and every whispy 'branch' of this delicate plant. The title is perfect too for we see in the composition the one strand that appears to be poised ready to take flight away from the main core. Very lovely work. |

two/thirtyby UNCLEBROComment: Wow, now this is a dramatic lighthouse shot with some movement! Love how the waves are smashing among the rocks in the foreground of the shot while we see the lighthouse in the distance. As I said you captured a dramatic moment that captivates the viewer's attention. Love the clouds too. You have a great tonal range here. I am not to sure on the choice of a border. One one hand it adds a nostalgic, old time feel because I get the sense of aged edges and looking through a window of times gone past. On the other hand, it sometimes distracts & detracts from the main image. |

Day 2 - Castle Hill Lighthouseby CapeSailComment: Love the perspective in this composition - the rockwall stairway beacons forth the viewer to climb up to take a closer look at the lighthouse. The sky near the top of the lighthouse has blown out contrasts - use of the burn tool can tone that down. Some of the contrast in tones are a little flat throughout - some have suggested some dodgeing and burning which is a good suggestion another might be to play around with the Channel Mixer as well to adjust some levels. |

Day 1 - Towards the Light.by sherpetComment: Hello Sherpet. Welcome back! Good to see that you are up and participating in something you love.
Now onto the photo - This is a lovely contrast-filled photo with quite a dramatic sky. It is that sky that really captures the attention. The dock adds a nice feel to it - it beacons the viewer to stand upon it's wooden planks to drink in the beauty of the sky above. However I think there is too much gleam off the waves of the water below that is distracts from the lovely and dramatic sky. I think cropping off the bottom portion to just below the dock will strengthen the composition. It would turn the composition into a square photo that will keep the attention focused tightly on the dramatic sky with the dock and a little bit of waterscape to add to the dramatic backdrop. |

day 1 - separate livesby GinaRothfelsComment: What an excellent capture and the title is so appropriate to what is composed in the photograph. The subjects separate themselves by sitting on opposite sides of the bench. They are separated by gender - two men on one side and a woman on the other. They are separated by race - the two men appear to be of african-american descent while the woman is caucasian. The contrast in the tones really stands out - the white of her dress to the two men's dark clothes. Skin tones of light and dark also play a role in the photo composition - and are captured very well in this photo. Love how you captured in this candid street capture the pose of the subjects. The two men's poses show that they are at ease on their side of the bench. The man with the cap leans forward hands clasped waiting - he casts a sideways glance either looking/waiting for something to appear down the street or a wary look at the woman on the other end of the bench. The man in what appears to be a worksuit sits straightbacked and rather stiff seems to be casual and at ease in where he sits but he also looks as if he is tightly squeezed to the sit. He looks like he is trying to stay far away from the woman to the right. The woman to the right has the body stance of someone who wishes to avoid contact with others. She not only seated herself on the opposite end of these two men on the bench but she has her shoulder turned away and is hunched turning away from the men as she looks through her purse. There is a feeling of discomfort and mistrust between these three individuals. Wonderful capture of mood, street life, and human behavior. |

Mini Daisy Day 1by KatmystiryComment: Love the B&W in these photo. The white tones of the daisies really pop visually off of the black backdrop of the background. The details and the tones on the daisies really draws the eyes in to stay, linger, and smell the flowers. Square crop was a nice choice too for it keeps the eyes centered on the main subjects which are the flowers. |

B&W - Day 1by mkComment: I love the composition - it always adds interest when you have lines that draw the eye to the vanishing point off in the horizon. The eye travels along the train tracks and passes a storage building before it vanishes off in the distance and the trees. The photo has a great small town nostalgic feel to it. The b&W is perfect for capturing this feel. Tones are just wonderful. |

Nothing To Wearby ShannonLeeComment: The battle that is never won because there is always ALWAYS laundry to be done. Yes, I can relate to the photo for there are days when we have little or no choice on what to wear because we have let the laundry pile up. I like the candid feel to this - it is like we took a peak in on just an average everyday slice of life of a regular person. Tones are good. My only two critiques are that I think there could have been a little more lighting to bring her face out of the shadow - that way we get a clearer and more prominent look at her expression of looking over the laundry better. Second just a suggestion to improve the compositional elements a tad more - a larger pile of laundry would really give us the feel of what doing laundry is like - A task that is tedious, boring and something we like or hope to have someone else do such that we sometimes let it get piled high before we have to dig in and just do it. |

Day 1 - At The Rodeoby TDCollinsComment: This is a wonderful action shot. Love the capture of people and events at this "Day at the Rodeo" shot. Black and white tones are wonderful and I love how you can see all the great details of this stop in the action shot from the dirt flying to the expression of the girl in the spectator stands. |

Day-1by SandyPComment: This is a WONDERFUL B&W capture. The city lights twinkle in the darkness like the stars in the sky. I like how you composed the city in 98% of your shot for this helps add to the illusion of a night sky but it also gives the eye much of the city landscape to 'feast' on. The city is indeed beautiful and much more so the beauty of the night lit city really shines in the B&W for we do not have the variation of many colors to distract or jar the eye's attention in this lovely capture. You even have a 'focal' point for the eye to latch on too - that building in the near center that looks roundish. It serves/acts as an anchor- one that we are drawn to and then from there take in the surroundings of the city. Wonderful composition and capture. Well done. |
