The Clovis Rodeo is a big event for the town where I work. The rodeo grounds are only a minute away, so a lunchtime shot was pretty easy. My goal this year was to capture stop action shots.

Awesome capture.

I love rodeos and your portrayal in black and white here is great. What really catches my attention though is the little girl in the stands with her big cowboy hat. She is totally enthralled watching the cowboy and his horse. Great picture!

Great action capture and the b&w keeps things focused on the fabulous posture of your subjects - also like the inclusion of that boy at the top left.

Excellent action shot, great clarity which is usually hard ( at least I have problem ). Love that child on the right. Great job with this one, and I'm glad to see that you are participating in this side challenge too. Looking to see more of your beautiful work.

I totally missed this one! It's fabulous - breath taking. The stop action couldn't be better and the background is perfect - especially with the little kid in cowboy getup on the right. Excellent work.

Excellent - but I'd also like to see a wider cropped version because the crowd adds so much

This is a fantastic capture and I think what totally sells it for me, is not only the posture of the rider and horse but the little 'Lone Ranger' in the background. That is absolutely classic and something you don't really see anymore.

This is fantastic - exceptional stopped action. Normally I would say that the shadows on his face detract, but in this case it simply draws the eye more to the action and really works. Very well done.

This is a wonderful action shot. Love the capture of people and events at this "Day at the Rodeo" shot. Black and white tones are wonderful and I love how you can see all the great details of this stop in the action shot from the dirt flying to the expression of the girl in the spectator stands.

Don't laugh, but the first thing that caught my eye was the kid in the right corner. I always think it is wonderful to capture these side elements kind of hiding behind the main subject. Love the action that you captured and the composition is great!

Dave, this is so awesome!!! I remember your rodeo shots from last year, before you got your fancy new lens, and the difference in the quality of your photography between then and now is astounding!

This has such amazing tonal range and could not be sharper or better focused! Did you use your HDR software on this? It is flawless!

Cool action shot! Harsh light and shadows are not that flattering though but I think the interesting photo makes up for that. I too am not fond of the wide border.

Great stop action shot. Could you put your camera settings on the photo's though....it will help us beginners more. PP details would help also.

Great action shot, the dirt flying up from the horses hooves is perfect. Not a crop shape I would normally go for but I think it works really well here

This is great! Your composition is so fun here. Love how the kiddo is looking on. The detail is wonderful. Great stop-action! I do like the frame, but it's a bit large. Might want to peek at Judi's tutorial on frams should you need any help. Nicely done!

That is an AWESOME capture - holy smoke - totally 'got it'!

I really love the dude on the left hand side kickin' back and the little girl in the sunnies on the right - so perfectly caught.

My only peeve is the frame - far too big and overpowering for me - the photo on it's own is WONDERFUL!
