It's easy to see this as simply a separation based on race, but this moment you've captured here, of the subjects' postures and levels of attention, point to a separation that could be more deeply that of differences in personality and involvement/engagement with others. Nicely seen.

This is an amazing shot!! I would have saved this for a challenge! Body language speaks VOLUMES in this shot...look how the men crowd themselves to give her room...again great shot!

the black and white in this is great - so much detail. i love it that there could be a million and one stories told from this pic.

what a great candid shot - it is amazing to see how on one bench we can see two completely different worlds

What an excellent capture and the title is so appropriate to what is composed in the photograph. The subjects separate themselves by sitting on opposite sides of the bench. They are separated by gender - two men on one side and a woman on the other. They are separated by race - the two men appear to be of african-american descent while the woman is caucasian. The contrast in the tones really stands out - the white of her dress to the two men's dark clothes. Skin tones of light and dark also play a role in the photo composition - and are captured very well in this photo. Love how you captured in this candid street capture the pose of the subjects. The two men's poses show that they are at ease on their side of the bench. The man with the cap leans forward hands clasped waiting - he casts a sideways glance either looking/waiting for something to appear down the street or a wary look at the woman on the other end of the bench. The man in what appears to be a worksuit sits straightbacked and rather stiff seems to be casual and at ease in where he sits but he also looks as if he is tightly squeezed to the sit. He looks like he is trying to stay far away from the woman to the right. The woman to the right has the body stance of someone who wishes to avoid contact with others. She not only seated herself on the opposite end of these two men on the bench but she has her shoulder turned away and is hunched turning away from the men as she looks through her purse. There is a feeling of discomfort and mistrust between these three individuals. Wonderful capture of mood, street life, and human behavior.

Just a great shot. Very telling and the title is so appropriate. I love the stripes on the left-most person's socks and hat, adds a nice twist. Great pic

Gina!!! This photo TOTALLY rocks!!! It is MY kind of photo. It's amazing how you have managed the kindly lady to almost glow in the light, without making it look fake or weird. The richness of focus are just amazing! I am really looking forward to seeing more of your stuff if this is any indicator of your talent!

Nice candid. Would like to have just a bit more exposure on the left, but definitely catches your title beautifully.

A great find. The title sure does go great with this scene. Very nicely composed and wouldn't work as well in color for sure! What B/W is all about :)
