Tunafish pastaby heidaComment: Very muted colours, I can imagine this working in an advert with text over some of the image. Nice perspective and I like the out of focus bowl in the background. Adds interest without interfering. |

Cappuccino Crème Brûlée by GordonComment: Very professional, nice use of DOF to throw out beans on table surface and focus on those in cup. Composition with curved sweep of cup edge and then handle... love it! |

Bite Meby BitzComment: Nice idea on presentation - much more interesting than seeing a static bowl of the stuff... looks wonderful. Background has a little shadow to the lower left (which could easily be edited out post challenge). Great shot! |

Cheese Fondueby alanfreedComment: Nice attention to detail (no fussy background or extraneous objects in frame) but I really find myself wanting to see the fondue itself and assuming the pot is empty! |

Pod Buddiesby DiamondPeteComment: Beautiful - the kind of image I could see being used in advertising campaigns. I'm self employed and working on a huge project for a posh UK food retailer/ supermarket and this is just the kind of image they are a) adorning their offices and corridors with and b) commissioning for the project I'm working on. |

Afternoon Delightby OneSweetSinComment: Beautifully composed with wonderful attention to background. Great colours. Very appetising. Biggest strawb doesn't seem quite sharp though. |

E. coli, it's what's on your plate by fas-ligandComment: Most visually appealing element of this image (to me) is the blue glove, red petri dish and that small tool, especially against the silver surface. Given that the racks of tubes and other petri dishes don't add anything to the composition (for me) I'd prefer to see a photo showing only the hand, dish and tool close up against the silver. |

H2O by kiwinessComment: So simple and yet so innovative.
A creative way of showing both the substance and the molecular formula whilst still keeping visual appeal of final image paramount.
The precision (in size and position) of each droplet is amazing.
Nice lighting and colour saturation.

Sound Waves...or...Can You Hear Me Now?by Firstrich1Comment: With a less orange colour tone this would have been a 10.
As it is I think it's a wonderful image that captures beautifully that early childhood wonder with the basics of science.
Nice use of depth of field to show distance of furthest child from main subject.
Eye contact from front child absolutely makes the image work.
