It’s the day before turnover and I’m doing very well, not sure where this will land, but it doesn’t matter because I’m over the moon with the score and all the comments. I prefer so many of the photos in this challenge to my own.

This was shot in an old and quite derelict house that i ‘m fixing up with a friend. The few props used were found lying around on site and the flowers were freshly picked from the garden. That’s Chris in the chimney, he was also featured in the Agoraphobia shot in last week’s free study, i think he prefers the photo shoots more than the usual backbreaking stuff we get up to.

My take on it: The guy in the chimney that’s us, we’re trying our best to climb inside and hide our heads in our small confined realities. The flowers represent our insatiable desires, our hardheaded dualistic opinions and the things that we cherish and think will bring us lasting happiness. The decrepit surrounds represent the impermanent and changing nature of everything and the inevitability of loosing it all. The guy in the window, he’s come to let us out, he knows its only by letting go and venturing out of our tiny worlds that we will find true peace. He’s been knocking on the door for ages so we can step into the vast outside, but his appearance is a bit frightening and foreign to us, so we don’t answer, preferring to stay hidden, and to keep clinging on in the illusory and supposedly secure worlds we’ve built, or something like that.

Really big thanks for all the generous votes and comments.

This is striking me as gyabanesque, although jagar's recent winner also comes to mind. Of course, I'm notoriously awful at matching images to their photogs, and regardless, this is a top notch image.

Everything about it screams art to me - terrific imagination and creativity, amazing thought put into details and composition, masterful pp'ing. Absurdism meets surrealism, meets fantasy. My front page for sure, if not a ribbon.

So intriguing and interesting to look at. I am amazed how you managed to photograph this. It definitely seems more like a painting where one can place things whereever one wants, instead of a photograph. Remarkable!
A 10 from me, and I hope this does well for you

Is that Freddy Krueger in the lower left? LOL I like the tulip theme that runs throughout. This is bizarre and certainly befitting of the Fine Art category. I can see this hanging in an exhibit at a gallery. Upon review, I'm wondering if this would fit more into the "contemporary" category. Doesn't really matter because it's a discussion that can go on ad infinitum.
